Entry forms for the Phillip Island Classic to be run on the 7,8,9th March 2008 are now available. Contact the VHRR for an entry. When they are available electronically I will post them here.
Should be another cracking Group S contingent.
If you want to enter Group S you will need to get a wriggle on, as at yesterday there were 47 entries for a max field of 50!!

Attached are EF & Supp regs :)
Scott, Tony Prowse & I have all entered
I believe that the NSW Group S contingent wont be coming down this year, mainly due to the FoSC Bathurst event just two weeks later.
However there will be a handful of Group N Alfa boys coming down, and rumour has it Bill Magoffin will be bringing the Group C 105 down for a run.
3rd on the reserve list......
3rd, you're a shoe in.
I have just discovered that a 1932 Alfa Romeo P3 in the hands of regular Phillip Island visitor Peter Giddings - fresh from a total restoration in New Zealand - will be at this meeting.
1st on the reserve list.....
Yes, the Gidding's P3 is a definite starter. I want my picture taken with it.
Entry now confirmed.
Brilliant, great news. I just hope I can get my car finished in time.... ???
VHRR have released the entry list (it can be found on their website). 14 Alfa's entered for the meeting (+1 Alfa/Ricciardi of Club member Bill Prowse) in Group N, Group S, Regularity, and of course the P3 entered in Group K.
Some other cars of note are 4 ex-F1 cars from the 70's & 80's and the world's most powerful sports car the Porsche CanAm 917/30, producing up to 1580HP in qualifying trim!!
Although with much disappointment I have run out of time and I am going to have to be a late withdrawal. >:(
Are you out for sure? I was hoping we could have the two cars there!! I'll call.

Phil, is it anything a working bee over the next weekend have fix?
I will be getting the car back on Saturday, then re-fit all the bits I took out for the panel beaters...not a big job and I can fiddle around with most of that myself, but it is all the stuff that has to happen after that. Wheel alignment and then a longish list of jobs for Hugh then get scrutineered for the targeted scrutiny programme, it may be ok but it will be very tight. To be honest, as long as it is ready for Bathurst FoSC that is all that matters right now.
It's official - I'm out.
Does anyone know if a programme of races has been issued either on the web or as an attachment to competitors? The VHRR site is no help at all. I am going to go for one day, probably Saturday, but may be able to change that if the F5000s (and of course the Alfas) are only running on the Sunday.
John,
Good point. The last few years the Saturday program has had Group S practice at about 9- 9.30am , then not much Alfa activity until after Lunch. Last year i rang VHRR and there was some link on their home page for the program. But as you said nothing there this year

I have the programme at home, I will bring in tommorow and scan it.
Car has been sold - So I'm out too.......Car will be going to Sydney in two weeks.
Bad luck Phil, commiserations Scott but congrats too on such a quick sale.
Let's hope your efforts to re-ignite the Vic Alfa passion for Group S doesnt wane.
Arse!!
That doesn't help with the next magazine.....
Sorry Sheldon but I'm more pissed than you.....
And no it won't wane - I'll start another car in just a little while....BTW there are a heap of Group S cars underway - I can't wait to see them all out there....lets hope we see a few more out there regularly this year.

Bathurst beckons, that should take up a page or two!
Saturday & Sunday Program attached
Thanks Phil for posting this. I'm going to head down on Saturday with my 15 and 4 yr olds. With the programme repeating twice during the day we will be able to see everything even if we aren't there for the whole day. I haven't been before and so am really looking forward to it.
Thanks also for that Phil. I will be going down as well. Interesting that this is the 80th anniversary meet & they will be running a demo of 80 cars around the original circuit. I was there for the 50th anniversary and I still have the programme. In it is an advert for the "new" alfa range including the GTV. Now these cars are in the event! TAt the 50th anniversary circuit demonstration, cars included were a 1928 Alfa Romeo (Model not given) and 1932 8c, both of which were previously entered in Australian GP's, as well as a 1930 & a 1932 Alfa Romeo 1750. There were a total of 267 pre-war cars entered in that days demonstration! Cheers, Craig
Saw Gidding's P3 yesterday and it is magnificent! Everyone should go just to see this car.
Hi Scott, first of all congrats on the quick sale of your Group S car.Alot of the local alfa racers are wondering who you sold it too, anyone we know?
Cheers John
Scott is right about the Giddings P3. A thing of beauty. But the sound it made on the main staight at PI .I'm still tingling thinking about it a day later. The only thing that's 80 years old and sounds that good is BB King & Muddy Waters.
So here's what all the fuss was about. A pretty special machine....
Sorry for the bad photo of the interior and pardon my ignorance, but could someone tell me what is happening on the floor just in front of the driver's seat.
It's a split driveshaft.
And the Grp S car is going to Sydney...I'll let the new owner make the announcement...
