Hi Andrew from Perth here,
a friend bought this Alfetta GTV brand new in early 1978, it has sat in their garage/shed/barn unused since 1998 - not washed, not started - nothing.
I've been chasing it for a couple of years & 2 weeks ago they agreed to let me have it.
It was rustproofed when new & has hardly any rust & has never had any rust repairs in its life.
The guy kept meticulous records on the car - like OCD records, which I have a copy of. So I know the original seats were swapped out for Recaros, when a few months old (I have the originals). I know how petrol in total he put in the car from early 1978 till it was stored in 1998!
So many details and history I have on this car, its incredible.
Anyway, the car wouldnt even roll when I got it, the brakes & clutch disk were all seized up.
I've sorted out most issues now, except the prop shaft needs rebuilding, but the car runs and drives now
All the electrics work, all I had to do was fit a new battery & give the headlights a slap - even the Clarion tape deck still works!
Got it running on the weekend, seems to run really nice too.

Welcome aboard Andrew and congratulations on a great and desirable barn find the Alfetta GTV. Good to see you have it running and envisage you have a plan on getting it back on the road in the near future. I have provided below a link to a previous post from a fellow Sandgroper who recently undertook this exercise, which you might find useful.

Awesome, thanks Bonno, I will check it out now.
The car is still registered, it's never been unregistered.
The owner even paid insurance on it for the 23 years it was parked up
Hi Andrew, welcome! Looks like a really great example, particularly the condition of the body - amazing. I also have a silver 1977 gtv so nice to see another one out there. Good luck with it, enjoy!
Welcome Andrew from a fellow Perth Alfetta GTV owner. Yours is a beauty.
What trim/colour are the original seats? If you are interested in selling them, let me know.
Hi, originally it was all black vinyl interior.
When the car was a couple of months old a Recaro Rallye 74 drivers seat and another Recaro passenger seat where installed.
The back seat was recovered to match the recaros unfortunately. The two hardly used black front seats were put into storage. The passenger seat is in awesome condition but the drivers seat had some sort of glue leak on it so it's pretty much ruined ☹️
I don't know if I could be tempted to sell them though.
Cheers
Great car Honky lips you will love it . I've got the matching pair + twin spark motor . When you have given it a wash and polish put it on Bonno's Alfetta register . I can't find the link but i'm sure he will pop up with it
Cheers Andrew, black vinyl wouldn't be a match for me anyway - I'm hunting for the striped beige velour, so the hunt continues!
The link above that Paul referred to is: www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=19134.0 (http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/forum/index.php?topic=19134.0) though I see Bonno has already posted it above. You should check out the pics of Bonno's 116 resto too - it's spectacular.
great I will have a look, thanks
Car is now available to buy - I want $20k for it which I think is reasonable especially considering it comes with very sort after period correct Recaro seats and momo wheel - both worth $2k easy
txt me on 0405060124 for more pics - Car is in Perth & registered until march 2021
So it was a flip.
It was registered till March 2021. Does that mean the rego has lapsed now seeing it is past 3 months?
