Title: 164 LHD vs RHD Clutch Master Cylinder
Post by: V AR 164 on July 25, 2016, 06:29:33 PM
Hi all,

So far on my very long journey to discover a RHD clutch master cylinder for my 1992 164Q, I have gone nowhere  :(

I recently thought I had bought the very last RHD master in the country however I was soon disappointed this evening when I opened the package and discovered a LHD unit.

Well at least I can show people a side to side comparison of the two. As you can see, the LHD unit is completely different. Ranging from being larger in size, different mounting points, different connector locations, and the 'fork' size being smaller.

(http://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss132/Andrew_Goldun/image_zpspxnnrd3g.jpeg) (http://s569.photobucket.com/user/Andrew_Goldun/media/image_zpspxnnrd3g.jpeg.html)

So, even though I wanted a new unit, it seems I will have to send mine off to Monza Motors who said they can rebuild it for me.

Cheers guys,
Andrew.

The search goes on, this is a worldwide problem, I believe some people have adapted other cylinders to fit, interestingly left hand drive units are located inside the 164 opposed to our right hand drive units located on the outside 😊

Yes thankyou, I have a few good ones and old units but the issue is they are not available brand new anywhere in the world, may have to search down the path of finding the closest fitting unit from another model of car   :o

Hello.
*Alfa Romeo 164 RHD clutch master compatibility*
Good news! The alfa romeo 164 RHD and 166 clutch master pump are the exact same part!
I had a bad master on my RHD 164 TS and got a Delphi LM80243 clutch master which is originally made for the alfa 166 (not sure if LHD or RHD), and it turned out to be a perfect replacement! No modifications needed. Direct fit!
Thought I'd mention it because I've seen many posts where RHD owners have been seeking assistance with sourcing a replacement for their RHD 164s.
My original clutch master part number: Benditalia 1421983
Replacement part: Delphi LM80243
Other brands: Bosch- 21983  TRW-PND246  Alfa Romeo - 60815343 LPR- LPR2122 Brembo - C23008
Hope this information helps RHD owners with clutch master problems!
