Title: Differences between LHD and RHD GTV6's
Post by: aggie57 on September 19, 2017, 07:20:25 AM
One of my mates here in the US recently acquired a one owner, 25,000 mile 86 GTV6.  A very nice, very original California car in a nice deep blue with tan leather.   His first Alfa (he's a Citroen guy) and he did the right thing and replaced the cam belt, water pump, belt tensioner, hoses etc.  Being his first Alfa he wanted some support, and me being an old GTV6 owner I got roped in.

Apart from the putrid stinky water that came out and a couple of frozen studs the job was very straight forward and all went well.  I was even amazed at how much I remembered - I guess all those hours under the bonnet get locked into the memory cells.

But it was the first time I'd ever worked on a LHD GTV6 and I thought it may be of interest to see the differences from RHD, at least under the bonnet.  So here is a photo of the finished item before we put the 'hood' back on.  Personally I think the RHD version is a neater installation, despite the brake cross over bar.

Yes, tropicair.  Interesting that 86 cars here got rotary compressors as well. The washer bottle has a crack and is away getting welded.

First one I've ever seen with the relay covers in place.
