Title: 159 Ti red brake calipers - touch up required
Post by: blueblood1995 on February 20, 2015, 01:29:48 PM
Hi
Can anyone recommend the best method for touching up painted red brake calipers for a 159 Ti?
See attached photo. Front right has sustained some damage!
Who would do this sort of work in Melbourne?
Regards

I highly recommend Paul Rankin at Rankin's Restorations in Bayswater.

Just grab a bottle of touch up paint with brush and build up some layers, will hardly be noticeable if you get the same colour or a close colour  ;)

I would use some engine enamel, that is high temperature, if you use touch up paint for touching up chips on the car, it is low temperature and may bubble off when the calipers get hot.
Go to a auto parts seller like Repco, Supercheap or Autobahn and see whats the closest, maybe Holden - Chevrolet red or orange?
Clean up the chipped part with prepsol or Methylated Spirits, get a small paint brush, shake the can to mix it properly and spray into the lid, so you have some wet paint, and paint it on the caliper with the small paintbrush.
Don't try to spray it on, as it will go everywhere.
I personally like the brand Powerplus as i have found it works good, Colin.
