Title: Safely removing the centre console.
Post by: WilliamB1750 on November 09, 2009, 12:34:16 PM
Hi gents
I'm trying to remove the centre console so I can access the wiper switches and associated wiring.
My model is a 1970 "1750" and has the 3 switches under the gear shift with the fuel and temp gauges above the gearshift.
I've had a bit of a look but the trick has alluded me so far and before I damage something some advice would be greatly appreciated.
cheers Bill

hi Bill ,there are 2 screws on either side of the console up towards underneath the dash ,remove them and there should be a screw underneath the ash tray
The wiring harness needs to be disconnected also.Carefully take gear nob off also. The console should lift out now

I think there is also a trick with the heater sliders to the left of the gear stick. Removal of two screws that feed though to heater I believe are also required to fully remove the console.
