Title: De dion bushing install trick?
Post by: GTVeloce on December 04, 2016, 11:32:37 AM
Hi all

Any tips for installing the front rubber de dion bush? I got the old one out using a simple pushing tool I cobbled together but the new bush is slightly larger than the hole and suspect will need compressing before installing. I don't have a press but I'm not sure that is the best technique anyway. I have tried using the same pushing tool reversed with plenty of rubber grease but it keeps tilting as it goes in and then jams.

Also, do I definitely need to remove the punched metal 'stakes' before installing? It came out easy enough without doing so. And I had no metal plate/disc on top. It seemed to operate fine without one. Can anyone tell me why I definitely need it otherwise I am just going to put it back as it was with the new bushing.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I will give this technique a try this weekend.
