Title: Hold my wallet before the wife kills me
Post by: ugame on September 27, 2018, 10:41:56 AM
These cheeky guys down at Aberdeen Auctions which is just down the road from my work.....

This is the place I got my black GTV (now my sons) from. They know I'm in the market for another "daily" (X-Trail) and they know I'm an Alfa Enthusiast.

This pops up........
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/west-perth/cars-vans-utes/2008-alfa-romeo-gt-coupe/1196296689

If it were manual, it's quite possible I'd be going through a divorce real soon.

Why did I even search for Alfa's this morning? Dont answer that!

Lol saw that, if the visibility wasn't so atrocious in those my girlfriend would have it. I'm grimacing ahead of the day when a 3.2 comes up cheap and I can't resist [emoji23]

I'd imagine it has some gremlins at that price, dad's spider is drinking a sump of oil a week so by the time he gets new rings it'll be the same price as a nice example.

There is a cheap V6 for sale in Perth at the moment but.......

Of course I dont know the car or all the details. What I do know is that a certain dealer didn't want to sell it on consignment as all the coolant was disappearing, and they didn't want to have to sell it with stat warranty.

Maybe it's been fixed.

All i do know is, I'm glad I keep photos of cars I view, so I can cross reference the rego.

I will have a GT one day. But it will be a well kept V6 black over tan.

Yeah that's it, as with the 156 I'd be more inclined to give ciles more money for a good example than run the gauntlet elsewhere - the JTS is great and all but probably if I were getting a motor that eats £3k every few years a GTA would make a bit more sense.

re visibility in a GT though....I guess it's down to driver and education.

I wouldn't have sold my GTV to my own son if that were a concern.

Use mirrors wisely, add stick on concave mirrors if required (actually I may get him some of those) and move your head.

And never ever move unless you are 100% sure it's safe to do so.

Never (touch wood) had a crash.

Probably the worst car for me was the 350Z Convertible with roof UP. But only when sitting at a 45 deg angle to exit a side road. Again...follow the above.

I see lots of young ladies driving GT's.

erm....not that I purve at other drivers around me or anything. I was looking at the CAR.....the CAR!!!!!

ok I had to go look in the flesh during my lunch time walk. (That's how I ended up with the black GTV lol).

Id guess it's priced accordingly as cosmetically it presents how I'd expect a cheap example to present.

Still, looks a bargain.

Agreed Bazz.

Even allowing for anything outstanding in terms of maintenance.

I didn't start it up or look under the bonnet.

Staying focussed. X-Trail for my 2nd daily. Something to throw the mountain bikes in and not give 2 sh*ts about....for now. But I keep getting sniped on those by other buyers lol.

Do you actually need the 4x4 aspect of the Entrail?

A Kangoo might be worth considering, if not.

More want that need on the 4x4 part. Condom principal (see movie Alien vs predator for reference lol)

Too late anyway. Picked up a 2006 for $5k this evening. Done. My fleet is complete again.

Sold the beetle too this week although its still at my place taking up space until its new owner turns up with a trailor. When that's gone, I begin work on "project pool/Porsche room mancave" :D

Yeah the girlfriend struggles in the selespeed behind slow traffic, and in reverse. The visibility in the spider with the roof up is shocking, I just keep it planted when I change lanes and hope that anyone deciding to go around me faster is on the stuff hat speeds them up not slows them down [emoji28]

Xtrail are nice utility cars - the old Subaru's are quite capable also as long as you don't mind the boxer. Cilebertis have finally gotten the 156 wagon ready for sale, haven't checked what it's going for but rebuilt top and bottom end and quite tidy.

Hey Chris, just watched the eagles win the flag 100m from your office. My best mate lives in strathcona street!
