Do these engines use cam belts or firing rods?
It is the standard Alfa 33 1.5 Boxer engine with twin webers
At the risk of sounding like a moron (just for a change).......
-What the hell are firing rods?
-I don't think they made a 1.5 QV engine, only the 1.7?
But if it's the standard 1.5 engine, then yes, cam belts. Didn't you see them when you were looking for your misfire? They're easy to change, but a little time consuming.
Post edited, firing rods, well I am not sure on the name, they are an alternative to a cam belt on some engines according to a friend of mine who races escorts.
Didnt go near the belts when checking out the misfire, I am assuming they are hiding under the black cover between the engine and front grill? the other two belts that I can see are A/C and Fan belt
You can un-edit your post. Apparently there is a 1.5QV. And I have one in my driveway.
I was a little confused.
Yes they are hiding behind the black covers. I'm mechanically inept and I recently managed to change mine, as well as the tensioners and water pump. Worth doing if you don't know when yours were done last.
Guessing firing rods = push rods. For engines without an overhead cam (or multiple).
