Fellow Sandgropers, for anyone wanting work done on their exhaust system, I want to give a huge plug to Peter at Exhaust World in Newcastle St West Perth. I went to him on the back of Ugame's comments about the work he did on his 916 GTV - great recommendation Chris!
He fabricated a new front half system for my '81 GTV (replaced everything between the manifold and the centre muffler) from much better quality steel to replace the thin, cracked and amateur-hour setup that was installed by a prior owner. Work included all new mounts front to back, as well as some reshaping of the rear end pipe, and raising the front end collector and pipework a couple of inches so that its now pretty much level with the sump (and no longer at risk from speed humps).
All done inside a day for less than $350. Can't ask for better than that.
Yeah, Pete is a good bloke and does nice work too :)
I was very impressed with how neat and "factory fresh" his work looked.
Great to hear :)
Pics or it never happened!
Yeah, should have taken some when he had it on the lift. Will take some when i get a chance.

Or pop round my way and we'll do a quick vid of the underside and exhaust note like I did for mine :D
I'm free tomorrow Arvo and weather is nice I think :D
PM me if interested.
I'd love to Chris, but unfortunately I have a pre-existing commitment tomorrow. Thanks for the offer though.
Also want to give the undersides a good degrease and clean before I show her off to the world.
As a stop gap, very short video so you can hear exhaust note. Excuse the embarrassing puff... hadn't really started her for a couple of weeks (shocking weather of late).
Don't know if its just me (on every device I use) but for some reason embedded videos don't show up on this forum. Been like it for months now.
Can you post the link as well?
Can't wait to hear it :)
I also am unable to view these videos posted on the forum. It is probably some white magic thing in my computer settings.

Does this work. Warning - its not very exciting, very short.
I believe it's to do with browser compatibility. Works with Safari and I think Chrome, doesn't work with IE, not sure about others like Firefox.
Had a related argument with techies at Brown and Watson (Narva, Projecta) - their webcat stopped viewing in IE without warning. They shrugged it off, apparently informing people about their products doesn't matter anymore...
Thanks Poohbah, the link is working fine now.

I disagree ;)
Sounds awesome!!!!
Cheers mate, I do like it too. Pretty much as loud as before, but more characteristic Alfa note.
To paraphrase Clarkson, "like a rorty sorbet".
Looking forward to underbody pictures of the pipework.
Yep, will post some as soon as I have them.
Completely forgot about putting up some pics of the excellent pipework by local exhaust shop. Apologies for the pic quality, don't do the work justice. Particularly in comparison to what was there previously. Old pipes hung about 2-3 inches below the oil pan, were dented and flat spotted along front cirve.
He completely built these from manifold down to the middle resonator. They now fit snugly roughly level with oil pan, replaced all the rubbers and mounts etc front to back and even relocated the rear mount so it no longer sat too close to the (why have one?) tow bar bracket.
couple more
I thought your GTV was a dark grey colour. Underbody looks white to me? Exhaust looks nicely tucked in.....
Good old Pete. He does some very neat work. True petrol head imho who just ticks over doing "normal" exhaust work to pay the bills, and then enjoys the curve balls from people like us.
Just a trick of the light bt. Car is dark grey. (Though it was originally metallic cloud grey - a prior owner repainted it GMH Turbine Grey which has a hint of green in it)
Now thinking of taking the 156.to Pete to extract some more volume from the Busso.
I am waiting for next workshop. Can anyone provide dates?
