Does anyone know if there was a different boot for the early GTV's (non isostatic)?

I have a new boot on my '83 and can't for the life of me get the large end over the tube coming down from the floor.

Mind you it's a bugger to get a good grip on underneath the car, upside down with the drive shaft in the way. Any tricks/tips?

I'll see if I feel like having another go at it when I'm under there pulling out the frozen rear callipers this weekend.

AL.

have you tried soakin it in hot water or a hair dryer to soften the rubber with a couple of nose pliers?
