This is the second car - a 1975 Alfetta GT that will run with a 2 Litre engine.
another good pick up
Scott
This GT looks too original to turn into a race car. It even has the correct steel wheels on it! I realise that nobody is looking for original 116 coupes, but it appears so unmolested.
Le Mans Blue is a pretty rare colour too - don't change it or put different coloured ends on it! (Why are we obsessed at doing this? Not sure it looked that good on the Autodelta cars either...)
They always look better in the pictures!
It is actually pretty rough up close although completely original. I know it's a shame as there are now so few of these cars around in good nick.
Well that's OK then, at least its being saved!
I know that since I've brought my GT in 98, I've assisted in killing four coupes. They weren't all mine (my spare was crash damaged) but a couple could've been saved I think. Sure they were rusty, but the shells were straight. The rationale was that there was always a less rusty one out there for not much more money.
If they were 105 GTVs they would've been saved.
Even at yesterdays Concorso where my blue GT sat next to John Pucak's similar silver GT (class winner no less) I had a guy come up to me wanting to know whether I wanted another shell, then another who's putting a twin spark engine into a GT....
They're still out there, but it can't last for too much longer... :)
I agree Paul. I have "rescued" two GTs this year from the elements, now undercover in my shed and rusting a bit slower! Although I don't know what their ultimate fate will be.
I am buying any decent metal bumper GTV's I can find if at the right price. 2 so far.
The Blue GT has been brought up to standard spec to compete at the 6hr!
Well blow me down - the Blue GT has just won the 6hr. In not much different trim to you see here - the car has completed over 150 laps of the Winton Long Track to win (along with it's sister silver Afetta GTV - in not much better condition) the inauguaral AROCA Babyco 6h. Not bad for something on ebay just a few months ago.
Well, it is now official, the Blue GT is to be kept as an original, unmolested GT and will not be a Group S car. A new No. 2 car has been found and will be reported on soon. I guess now the blue GT has competition history!
Yes, Blue Thunder will be Group S!
Righty O then, its time to get Nev signed into the forum, so we can push him along a bit. Glad to see he is driving a real sports car now ;)
Good point - i will get him on board asap.....
Maybe we can convince Nev to get a flame job on blue thunder?
Don't want to steal his thunder but, the car will be painted in 1978 Falcon Cobra colours.....white with 2 blue centre stripes.........sensational!!
