Hi all,

I have 2 33's which have both have been diagnosed as needing new air flow meters.
One is a 1990 16 Valve and the other is a 92 Permanent 4.
Not sure if they are the same device across the models??
Any ideas? One of my mates has a contact who can rebuild afm's. Not sure how much this will cost yet so exploring options.

Regards
Hamish

What's actually wrong with them? Worn out contact tracks?

Air flow meters are not to be played or tampered with , if you want top performance get a professional to service and re-calibrate it .  I will find out the details and post . may be  a few days .

The VAF style AFMs used on the 33s are pretty simple devices.
The usual problems with these are caused by mechanical wear, nothing that a spray cleaner would fix.
I can repair these if you can't find somewhere local.

There's a few writeups on the net already, just google "bosch afm repair".
The usual problem is that the wiper arm has worn through the resistor track, so a slight re-shaping of the wiper arm moves it's contacts onto fresh parts of the track.
