Alfa 90 V6 dipstick collar

Hi All,
       I always wondered about the oil level in my Alfa 90 V6. The car never seemed happy if I filled the oil level to anything above about half way up between min and max. It would occasionally cough blue smoke under initial hard acceleration and the oil level would pretty quickly drop to where it says min on the stick and then sit happily at min for months and 1000's of k's.
      I had a look at the dipstick today and it looks like there is a witness mark where the collar has moved up the stick from its original location. Does anyone know where the collar should fit on the dipstick?

Assuming all of the 12v 2.5l V6s use the same style dip stick, an image of mine (but not an Alfa 90) is attached.
