Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a refurbished cylinder head and it has been bead blasted. It looks great, nice and clean and not pitted as you would expect from sandblasting for example. Wondering if any of you have experience with this finish? How does it wear over time? Thinking I might start blasting other parts as I build up my restoration project.

I had my engine parts vapour blasted (wet bead blasted). My engine looks as clean and shiny as it did 4 years ago when I got it done. Apparently it slightly peens the surface so it doesn't oxidize as fast. Well that's what I was told...

That was exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks mate, motor looks awesome!

You need to be *extremely* thorough in cleaning (physically, with a brush and taps) all the oil ways, bearing surfaces, threads and anywhere else that glass fragments might hide before building the motor up.
