I was doing some work on the rear window latch mechanism and both screws from the RH striker (on the window frame) sheared off because they were ceased with rust.

So, now I would like to remove the rear window frame piece to clean up the rust and drill out the screw remnants. Does anyone have any experience with this which might help?

Mate, save yourself the despair of cracking the glass and get an installer to remove it. Unless you have the right tools? I can imagine how easy and cheap it would be for new glass. I did two front screens on my Alfetta and a 147, both with proper glazing tools both cracked with 10" to go, arghhh! If your confident though just take it slow and don't place any leverage on the glass.

Excuse my ignorance, I'm assuming the rear glass is glued in?

CJ, he's not talking about removing the glass from the rear hatch frame, but how to rework the latch.

ClassicAlfa have the two seals (glass to frame, frame to body) but I can't add anything on how to disassemble it. Perhaps ask ClassicAlfa? Or these folk, who supply the hinge cover:

Ah-ha, not to ofay with the Montreal, YET! I'll get me one, one day....

Looks like he got his answer on AlfaBB from a friendly member, with photos. I normally get blasted whenever I post over there  >:(

Give me a call - 0416103817....whilst I have my rear hatch in pieces. The rear hatch is not a job for windscreen fitters!
