Ron Howard's epic action-drama Rush stars Chris Hemsworth as the charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Brühl as the disciplined Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, whose clash in 1976 epitomized the contrast between these two extraordinary characters, a distinction reflected in their private lives.

Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed. Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.

The film 'Rush' was fantastic, it must be seen on the big screen, so you can feel Niki Lauda's V12 Ferrari rumble through the picture theatre, always been a Lauda fan, just a bit more now and never liked James Hunt and still don't, it was shown at The Palace in Balwyn an old picture theatre that hasn't been modernised and has a great atmosphere and they had part of the Italian Film Festival there as well.
There were about 45 Alfa Club members there on the night, one of them who shall remain nameless had a tear in his eye when Lauda 6 weeks after his accident made his comeback in Italy and finished 4th!, when the Priest gave him his last rights on the operating table, Niki told him to pi55 off as he won't be dying as he has a world championship to try and win.
After the film we went up the road for some excellent pizza and pasta at Colombos in Camberwell and some good chinwagging about the film and Alfa Romeo's.
Thank you to Mary Colautti for organising an excellent event, well done.
Quote of the night was, when before every race James Hunt used to vomit before the race, "Look at Hunt... he has just eaten a Winton Burger", you know who you are, Colin.
