Koni Reds on the rear

I've recently removed the shocks from two mid 70's Alfetta sedans & in both cases have found Koni reds on the rear but Boge & Monroe fronts respectively. Just wondering if anyone might have any idea why previous owners might have spent money on the rear shocks but not as much for the fronts? Am I missing something?

From a rusty memory......I think when I wanted Koni Yellows for my Alfetta back in about 1986 I could only get yellows for the front and had to settle for reds for the rear.
