Hi folks, we are now onto our 3rd drivers side sunvisor, as the spring mechanism within has again failed. Is there a way to repair, or just buy another? Also, any ideas on where I might get a reasonable price on replacement including clips?  (is 2nd hand worthwhile?) Ideas welcome! Cheers, Lawry

You could try either Monza Motors or The Italian Job here in Melbourne as they both have second hand parts for this model. I have used them and found their prices to be reasonable.

You could get a better response if you put it in the correct catergory, this is for current models, you need to go in the 147-156-166-GTV-GT catergory, personally don't like the sunvisors in the 156, they are either fully down or fully up, can't put them halfway like in the good 33, Colin.

Thanks for replies folks.  Craig, kind offer, I'll PM you to see if we can connect. ColCol, this is a 2005 model, so figured this is the best spot?  Cheers folks, Lawry
Addendum for ColCol..oops..I just realized where I posted...I thought I had done so in the 156 section!  Dont know how to change it though!)

Thanks Rory..will do. I've sent Craig an email and will wait to hear back. I' really appreciate the generosity here, specially as a newbie.  I've been an active player on MG & Jag forums  and found everyone to be great there too.  Where in Brisbane are you? I'm in Redlands area. Cheers  , Lawry.

Hey Lawry, how about some pictures of your car and a few details in the 'introduce yourself' part of the Forum, 156 owners, always welcome, Colin.

Hi folks,  visor sorted , many thanks to Craig's generosity.  Rory..maybe I should grab yours too given that the spring loading in these things seem to have a habit of stuffing up every few years!!!!
I also have a confession to make to Craig...as I drove up to your place today, and saw so many alfas in various states of loving, I felt so hypocritical, as I was driving my MG rather than the wife's 156....Mia Culpa!! Please forgive me oh guru f Alfa nirvana!!

ColCol, yes, I will take some pics of the car and say a 'belated' hello in the intro section..

Cheers folks, and hopefully I can be of some help to someone somewhere along the line!!

Hey Lawry, how does the sunvisor work with a broken spring, does the sunvisor stay still or does it continuously fall down?, i don't like the way its either fully down or fully up, you can't have it halfway, most likely done for safety regulations so it can't line up the sharp edge with your eyes, prefer the 33's, where it is totally adjustable, but not as safe,.......wait till the spring in your outside rear vision mirror comes loose, then you will have a job on your hands, Colin.

Colin..thanks so much for those comforting words!!  Something more to look forward to!!!!

Sunvisor without the spring is painful & dangerous..it flops about all over the place etc. (unless of course you have it clipped in, but it still stays down right at eye level even then)  I broke the clip in frustration when trying to park in a busy spot, with the visor flopping around in my field of vision...I smacked it back in towards the windscreen, and it flicked on the clip and broke it off!  Oops!   :-[ Lawry

How very strange, i have never had any problems with either of the visors, and have had my car now for nearly 6 years
