I can't believe I asked this innocent question ten years ago.... restorations take a long time (in between life)  :-[

Jeff from Stuckeys quoted me on pirelli's - said they are cheaper than Michelin XAS
$306 for a Pirelli 185/70 VR 14

I just can't see the value in that, as much as I hate the current set of tires on my car.

Exactly what I'm wondering

I have the XASs on my Giulia which i really like.

I'll be watching with interest, need to get 3 new sets in 13" for two Fiats and the alfasud. Much as I'd really like CN36s, I can't justify the expense.
I'm planning on going for Continental ContiEcoContact 3 in a 175/70R13 as they are cheap and cheerful (hopefully)!

I can't believe we're all still here and haven't disappeared in some sort of holocaust. I'm amazed that 10 years on this internet thingy still works!   :o

What ever you do, don't buy Falken RE712s - they're effing terrible in the wet - it's like I have 500hp. Stupid "Eco Tyre" crap.

I've got Falkens on the 124 coupe - I've never liked them!

So, has anyone invested in the vintage tyres? How do they go and how do they compare to modern "eco" tyres available for 14 inch rims?

I bought vredestein sprint classic tyres from antique tyres in Heidelberg for my Fulvia. A great period tyre in the right size. I suspect you'll be able to find a size for the 105

The CN36s are supposed to be very good, but at $300+ a corner, I can almost put 2 sets of Falken RT615Ks on the car.

What width are you running?
How would you rate road noise?
