That's where I think a 105 Coupe can really fit the bill.  A mildly warmed over motor, some mildly stiff springs and shocks, a tidy interior and paint job and the car can do just about anything.  Look at Damien Crea's 1750 GTV - the damn thing looks beautiful on display at Spettacolo, then he bolts on some R-specs and is significantly quick at sprint days.  He does EMRs, has done rallies in the past.  That 105 gets a caning, and is still a beautiful classic car (from the outside).

The twin-spark conversion helps I suppose, but the same thing from a nicely warm 2 litre would do the trick.

Great example.  Now, all i gotta do is rob someone for the funds, then find the car!

Ed, This may not be exactly the 105 spec that you are after but it is my current screen saver and may help keep the dream alive.

PS There was a photo on the forum recently of you in your Alfetta coming on to the main straight at Sandown that looked vaguely this

Initially, i got on the site to check if the P.I. results were up yet but...

So... back to the original subject of this topic - I dont reckon I will ever afford that classic 1750 105 or the spider i am yearning for.

Thus, I am still in the market for a cheap, rust free, WA licensed 77 - 79 Alfetta GTV 2000.

I watched some footage of Tony Ricciardo's Alfetta GTV in a Super sports sedan race on SBS' Speedweek this arvo which reminded me how much i love the shape of these Alfas.

Mind you i still cant afford that either.  Better go buy that lotto ticket.

Hope P.I. was good.  We had our WA Xmas gathering this morning - BBQ brunch on the beach. Sadly, we had to move it from the beach to Ron D'Raine's house (our Editor) nearby due to this fantastic Perth summer we are having - got rained out.

Merry Christmas to all over East.

ed,

check out the latest post in the for sale section of the WA division website. seems to fit your bill pretty well (unless it has already been sold)

Yeah that one almost snuck through my close monitoring of the market.
Went and had a look earlier this week.  Needs a lot of work -

- The front guards are shot, there a few heavy dings and plenty of minor rust etc, possible needs new sills and new front guards etc and hasnt been started for 6 months so probably smokes like heck and have seized brakes.  But it is a complete car other than the glass missing out of the drivers side mirror.
Supposedly the suspension is modded - definitely has non stock springs but dont know the brand.

anyone got a cheap spare, rust-free set of front guards in red and a drivers side mirror?

But i still havent got the money even if i could get it cheap.  So probably shelving the purchase idea for up to 6 months.

bump
still looking for my next classic Alfa, either 77-79 Alfetta GTV 2000 or 68 105 GTV (any series motor).

Either must be W.A. licensed, preferably complete with minimal, certainly no structural rust.

As my 156 GTA is on the market, i am looking down the barrel at being a non Alfa owner for the first time in about 10 years which is abhorrent.
