Hi Guys,
I have been trying to fins somewhere to take my car for some major work and have come across the following two places that are fairly local to me.
Has anyone been to either of them? can anyone recommend anyone else in the inner Sydney area?

Vince gianneto at automoda is very experienced and has done a lot of work on my alfa's, many moons ago vince used to be the service manager at frank crott motors on parramatta rd. would have been the 80s era of GTV-33 ETC,but he is also very specialised on today's models, just look through his workshop on any day and u will see a vast array of alfa's.

As far as Max oddi, have never actually had work done by him,but he is very highly recommended by friends that have dealt with him, funnily i did speak to him recently regarding a vehicle history of a alfa for sale
and he was very obliging and sounded very genuine.

Another very good alfa specialist mechanic in the area,ie liverpool rd. ashfield is franks pitt stop motors, very honest and easy to deal with and they really know theyr stuff as far as alfa's go, hope this as been some help and good luck.

Try alfamotive in marrickville & ask for Andrew. They know lfas nd don't charge through the nose. They also have the factory equipment for the modern alfas. 95198501

Automoda do a good job but they are mighty expensive. You wont walk away from there with much change from 2k for a service.

How is Max Oddie for charging?

I need to get my selespeed calibrated, it is having difficulty finding reverse.....anyone give me a rough idea?

lombardi

Agree fully with Automoda being $$$$$$$$$$$, once told me it's only money, Max seems very reasonable and $ 65 for calibration is good, when possible he also uses parts from his wrecking yard wich sits accross the road from workshop, which can only save you money, more importantly,e knows and loves the product,.

used max oddi recently $110 hr seems a bit steep. Is this the usual price for Alfa servicing?

Garibaldi

The Alfa specialist I use in Melbourne is around $90-$100 hr for labour so $110 hr isn't too bad.

lombardi

Yes MAX does charge $ 110 x hour labour, just had some work done, would love to know someone cheaper in sydney that is a alfa specialist, unfortunately find that $ 110 is the norm.

Do they keep the car clean also and use seat and floor mats?

Are they reasonably priced?

lombardi

It's in a industrial area near railway tracks n station, cars are parked out in the open when not being worked on , my 1984 spider was there for a number of weeks n i can tell u it was in a sorry state t the extent that something in the air stripped some of the bumper paint, something like acid rain , dont want to really bag anyone but would like to recommend Franks pitt stop at liverpool road  or Max Oddi , you wont be disappointed ..

Good personal experiences which can be weighed up and certainly agree from personal experience with comments however I guess loyalty to the Alfa Club is worth recognising and Franks, Automoda and Alfamotive tick the boxes
