I saw that, can anyone with more electrical knowledge than me decipher it and tell me what I am allowed to do?

it seems to me to be saying that you can use electronic ignition as long as it looks the same as the dizzy with points and there is nothing outside the dizzy and no auxiliary connections outside the dizzy.
It has to look like that 123 system that seems popular. There is a kicker though that makes 123 ineligible:
(iii) Ignition advance shall be restricted to mechanical actuation within the distributor
No electronic mapped advance is allowed.

I guess something like the Pertronix Ignitor is suitable?  Fits internally to the distributor, replaces the stock wiring to the coil.

Maybe Vin Sharp can join the discussion, as he has provided some of us with electronic ignition componentry over the years.

Ok, the system that Vin sold me many years ago, consisted of a module connected to the coil by a brown wire that I believe enhanced the spark. My ignition was still (and is still) triggered by contact breaker points, I just had a "fatter" spark and a more reliable system.

The module is also connected to another module with a combined electronic rev limiter and (a green) shift light that I had discretely positioned on the steering column (it looked like a warning light.) All hidden in the heater box...  ::)

For what it's worth I think Evan is correct. I believe the Petronix system is the only one that complies with the regs. (At least I think so 'cos I just got one from the UK - about $120 at current exchange). Vin used to sell a Crane points replacement kit which has 3 wires and passes thru a separate box before going back to the coil so wont comply.

I'm not sure who sells the Petronix kit here, but Classic Alfa in the UK stock it.

I have Ignition Developments on the case. Watch this space.

Chris, where in Classic Alfa is what you are talking about?
