As a 10 year old boy in 1979 to see the above images and commentary coming through the TV was just a totally mind blowing experience, easily my best memories of Bathurst.

i would have to agree here, 79 was without doubt the greatest victory in the magnificent a9x torana, and yes i am biased,

Yeah 79 for me too Pauly, Brock set a new lap record and a new fastest speed on Conrod on the last freakin lap when he was almost a lap ahead of second :D

actually, they finished 6 laps clear of second ;D

The story I heard was that Brocky did that because Alan Moffat retired earlier in the day and he knew would be in the commentary box saying 'Peter will be taking it easy now, just listening for little noises' etc.....was just the final dig into Moff's ribs for the day

BROCKY what a champion, thanks for the memories.

yeah i love that footage, i was there when they ran that, we were talking to brock after that run and he said that the a9x didnt have the correct gearing and was screaming its head off about half way down conrod, great cars and i wouldnt sell mine thats for sure.
