"Sorry about that chief".

I was more from the "Karmann Ghia " Maxwell smart era. I remember in 1971 most of the kids at our school signed a pertition addressed to Channel 7 to reinstate the series after it had been taken off air at the popular 4;30 time slot. I think there was a marked increase in juvenile delinquency after school  in the area after they failed to do so

The Dam is at full capacity for the first time in years so should look fantastic, note to mention it a nice piece of road on the way out there. l heard about an old race circuit over the back of the dam somewhere,

Grew up around there - always meant to sneak into the track for a look-see as a kid. http://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/humeweir.html

The actual Weir had a major structural problem several years ago that threatened everything downstream so they literally buried most of the race track to strengthen the wall of the weir.

I *think* this is the track here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&t=h&msa=0&msid=211724666949087564438.00049791a4b52c0b1db0b&ll=-36.11101,147.01797&spn=0.014076,0.027595&z=15&iwloc=00049791abd3edbe2e1ab

A great spot closeby to gather up a few cars for a bbq is here (short dirt road access):  http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=-36.119712,147.021489&spn=0.007037,0.013797&t=h&z=16&iwloc=00049791a842a7a2cebe2&msid=211724666949087564438.00049791a4b52c0b1db0b

A great spot of an evening for, uh, stargazing....

There'll be a lot of activity nearby from the Yacht Club as well - with the weir full.

Thanks for all the replies and welcomesto the forum. The old Hume Weir Circuit is still there in part and is still owned by Bob Jane. There was a move some years ago to re build a circuit if not at the old location then somwhere close by. There was and still maybe a lot of local interest. Perhaps we could rekindle some interest.
Thanks again

I grew up around Albury/Wodonga and went to the weir circuit quite a few times with my Dad in the 70s.

I remember someone (Alan Hamilton maybe?) absolutely dominating there in a turbo 911, and seeing Gregg Hansford on a Kawasaki in the bike races.

There were probably Alfas running back then, but don't remember them - just a lot of clubman type cars, a lot of minis, a few V8s and the odd 911...

Dam shame it's not still open, would have made a great track for the Alfas, Waaaahoooo, and the Alpine Chapter could of had it's own race track.
We all agree with that!!!!
