Just be wary the details on the receipt could be wrong, visual confirmation is best. The details Vic Roads had for my 147 indicated the engine was stolen out of a boat, it was just a typo.

really bad advice there Dehne.

Take Brad's GOOD advice on board Karlo, always have visual confirmation, we never take a car to Vicroads without having checked the actual numbers on the engine and chassis, you just can't rely on Vicroad's employees typing skills.

Your VIN number should be on the firewall in the engine bay on the top of the drivers side near the Clutch master cyl.

Your Engine number is on the block near exhaust manifold cylinder 6.

buy a torch if you don't have one.

Cheers

I correct myself, I see you have a 2.0L GTV, number is in same place as i described. But should have written near cyl 4 header.

i dont see how its bad advice if the car was registered before the info should be fine on the rego lable and the part the he is just after a permit to drive it for repairs/rwc its the easiest way to get it done,
and i believe that all alfa owners would not be doing a dodge with their cars and or any other type of fraudlent activity with them,
so ill say it was BLOODY GOOD ADVICE !!!!

Sometimes doing things the 'easy' way isn't necessarily the right way of doing things. I myself would rather do something properly once instead of it coming back and biting me in the arse on the roundabout.

But... each to their own, let's just say I'm glad not everyone shares such a lazy and naive outlook and the one you are projecting.

I think that actually came off a bit harsh, all I mean is that you can't trust that everyone has done the right thing and it is best for YOUR OWN peace of mind to ensure the job is done correctly, be it reading a VIN/ENGINE number or building a car.
