Voluntary Recall of 1kg Fire Extiguishers

Chubb has announced a voluntary recall to replace certain Chubb, Quell, Fire Smart and Flameguard 1kg fire extinguishers.

With more than 60 years of experience in the fire safety industry Chubb has built a reputation for reliable, high quality products that comply with AU/NZ standards.  We pride ourselves on our products and through internal testing recently discovered that a proportion of 1kg fire extinguishers did not meet AU/NZ Standards requirements in relation to filling capacity.  As a result, the affected 1kg fire extinguishers may not release a sufficient steady stream of powder.

This recall affects 1kg extinguishers purchased between 16 February and 1 July 2010 with serial numbers between SA310547 to SA362970 and SA609001 to SA639743.   Any 1kg extinguisher purchased before this date or with a different serial number is not subject to recall.

To check if your 1 kg extinguisher has been recalled check the serial number next to the Australian Standards tick of approval. If the serial number is between SA310547 to SA362970 and SA609001 to SA639743 please return it to the store which you purchased it from for a certified replacement.

This replacement program was initiated by Chubb because the affected 1kg fire extinguisher in some cases may not meet Australian/New Zealand Standards.

Chubb has voluntarily undertaken the recall because it takes pride in its quality products and its commitment to its customers. Chubb is also advising state and federal authorities in Australia.
