Confirmed dates of 26/27 June for this years East Coast Challenge at Wakefield Park.

I have no doubt there will be plenty of NSW and QLD punters there.....lets get a bunch of Mexicans to cross the border this year too.  For all those that enjoyed the racing at Alfa Island a few weeks back, you'll love this event!  The VRA 'All Alfa All Racing' will be a stand alone category within the MRA race meeting.

If you would like to know anything more about the VRA eligibility etc, send me an email to phil at alfagtv dot com dot au

Wakefield Park is located a few kilometers from Goulburn which is about 2 hrs south of Sydney.  For the Vic's....it's an easy run up the Hume  :D

I will post more info here when it comes to hand.

Alfa Romeo East Coast Challenge 2010

June 26/27 2010

Following the Queenslanders very successful hosting of the East Coast Challenge at Lakeside last year, their Southern counterparts have locked in a date for the 2010 event. The circuit has been booked, accommodation has been organized – of course, you are welcome to arrange your own – and plans are being hatched by individuals.

This year's event is again planned for Wakefield Park Raceway on the outskirts of Goulburn in the Southern Highlands. Goulburn is a picturesque city with many historical buildings and situated approximately 1.5 hrs south of Sydney. There are many accommodation options, however, the boys from Veloce Racing recommend Trappers as one of the better ones and handy to everything, It has a great bar and restaurant and is their choice of accommodation when visiting Wakefield Park. A group booking has been arranged for those wishing to take advantage, simply mention VRA when booking.

This year's event should be of a similar format to last year, with practice, qualifying and four races. Like QR, Lakeside and Winton, this circuit is also a AASA venue, therefore, those with AASA racing licenses will be able to use them here. The finer details are yet to be finalised with more information coming soon, stay tuned!

Make up a story, tell a lie, earn brownie points, do whatever you have to as long as you get there!!....

Below are some details that will give you further information, there are also accommodation links on the Wakefield Park web site

MD

Phil,

Sounds like a great event. Wish I could participate but I sold my share in the Brick and so no toy to play with at the moment but I am building up a replacement. Hopefully by this time next year (or sooner) it will be on deck. Nevertheless I wil give some thought to coming down and spectate the event just to smell the Alfa lube in the air..who said I have an addiction?  ;D

Hot off the rumour mill.....

The dates for this event may change to 30/31 October.

Start planning now!  Its a week after the 6 Hour.....like Alfa Island and the Historics earlier in the year, 2 great events back to back.  Not to mention Historic Sandown the following week!!!

Nothing confirmed just yet, but watch this space.

Confirmed....below from the VRA Prez.

QuoteRacers,

IMPORTANT NEWS

This could be a good news, bad news story depending on your circumstance but here it is:

The Veloce Racing Association/MRA June 26/27 meeting at Wakefield Park is now the Veloce Racing Association/MRA June 27 meeting at Wakefield Park. Yes, it is now a ONE DAY MEETING on the SUNDAY ONLY. The circuit is not available on the Saturday.

The circumstances leading to this are beyond our control so there is no point arguing the toss, we just need to go with it.

The major impacts for us are in two areas.

Firstly, the Committee feel that we can no longer bill this meeting as the East Coast Challenge as it would be unfair to invite people to travel interstate for a one day meeting with no opportunity to practice. We are therefore going to nominate the October 30/31 VRA/MRA meeting at the same location as the East Coast Challenge.

Secondly, those who have booked Friday night accommodation at Trappers will need to cancel directly with them on (02) 4822-5445, we have let the block booked rooms go but they need to hear from those already booked personally. By popular request from last time, we will STILL HAVE THE SATURDAY NIGHT DINNER so please re-confirm your attendance when you talk to Trappers.

We try to keep changes of plans to a minimum because we all need to plan ahead so far these day but hopefully this will work out for the best. A one day meeting means you only have to freeze for one day and your liver only needs to survive one night in Trappers bar. You can cruise down Saturday afternoon and ease yourself into it! Moving to October means those doing the Winton 6Hr the weekend before will already be half way there or half way back!

The entry form for June 27 is attached, please note the $220 entry fee INCLUDES a Carport.

See you all at Eastern Creek this weekend and don't forget to tell your mates about the display and parade laps on Sunday for the Alfa Centenary. Entree for Alfa's is FREE.
