just wanted to check if someone can recommend a place to buy stainless steel/braided brakes hose for the alfettas, ideally without having to bring along samples... I know I can get them made at Earls or Pirtek but thought I'd check here first in case someone has recently ordered some... to compare prices..

Also will need to get the tailshaft balanced after fitting new donuts so any recommendations for a place in sydney would be appreciated..

cheers/martin

greengtv8 can get braided brake lines for 'fetta's, not sure on firm price, but maybe worth a pm to him.

Bruno @ Maranello/Pursang in brunswick, VIC can also supply them or has in the past and not expenise.  I have them on my Alfetta GTV, fitted with GTV6 Brembo calipers but original GTV rotors (with spacers removed on calipers).

Given i ran with them for the first time at Wannerroo last Sunday, i am more than happy.

thx for the responses so far.. cheers.

just remembered I need to get the vented discs redrilled to 4 stud (not a group S car :-) -  can a brake place do that or do i need to go an engineering shop?

thx martin

Fast Eddie

you can probably still buy GTV6 vented discs that are already 4 stud.  Probably a safer bet but i am not a brake expert not a mechanical anything

martin,

any engineering firm or somewhere that supplies trailer parts should be able to redrill rotors for you.

Yeah, thanks for that!  I am sure they could be better and i might try some differenct pads but pretty happy, certainly no lock up's but maybe i wasnt going hard enough given it was my first time on the track in many years and the first time in this car.

hi Eddie
The best place to get tailshaft balanced is Truckline in Perth. Cost about $160. The have alot of experience with Alfettas. Ciliberti use them all the time.
Saw your times from the stampede at barbagello. Understand track was compromised from V8 meeting couple of weeks beforehand.
Did you get some race seats?

Remember this Eddie generally all 4 cylinder alfas have 4 stud wheels all 6 cylinder alfas have 5 stud wheels (except 4cyl twin spark)
Therfore GTV6 discs will not fit 4 cylinder Alfetta.
It is pretty easy to redrill a   ventilated GTV 6 disc.Tighten nut on 1 stud and drill 3 new ones using alfetta hub as the template. Very important drill bit only 0.2 mm smaller than stud diameter. Bang in studs as interference fit to disc.
Hope this helps.

Martyn.
good to know about Truckline over here but that original question actually came from 116GTV who is in Sydney.

No success on the race seats as yet.  I may buy new next year as i have seen what looks to be a good, cheap fibreglass seat as a regular item on ebay.

As for my lap times - they were VERY slow but it was my first time on the circuit in anything other my my old 156 GTA on a dealer track day over 6 yearsd ago and the first time other than motorkhana that i have competed in my GTV. So i was thrilled to reduce my time by 5 sec over 16 laps and that the car did everything it should do.  The "revised" track didnt realy bother me as it had been so long since i was on it anyway.
It certainly got the competitive juices flowing again and the shopping list - race seat/s, stiffer springs all round, pair of Weber 45s', new "R" spec tyres...
