Sorry, I just glanced and thought you said D98 not D93.  D98's would be ok but Paul is right, the D93 was the "wet" formula r tire and not allowed.  The D98 was the old squiggly line tire superceded by the D01.

Thanks for the alert Scott. As I am ready to buy now do you think the new Dunlop D84J would be the most suitable 195/60-14 for my 105 Group S contender? I don't see the famed D98's or D93's or DZ03's on the list now. Before answering bear in mind my criteria, able to out brake and our handle Scott F, Colin B and Phil B.

Maybe its a set of cross-ply tyres that you are after Gary....that should help the cause.

Not sure the D84J would be the quickest.  The DZ03's are on the list and they would be the pick of the Dunlops.  Wouldn't be much between the Dunlop's, Bridgestones and Yokies.  Is this the start of a tyre war?

just to add my 2 cents in guys...we have heard recent reports about the Yokie's....aparantly towards the second hald of the tyre life/tread depth the yokies have recently lost a lot of grip...something to do with the recent batches of rubber quality, etc.  We recently switched and are running Brigestone for the first time and are very happy.  Just something to be weary about with current yokie's.

Cheers

No tyre war, just speed war.
Spoke to Russell Stuckey who was helpful as usual and has steered me away from Dunlop 84J's saying they are the new 'wet' tyre. (I thought wets were to be outlawed in Group S?) So I think I will go with the DZ03G which I believe is the new replacement for D01J.

just to confuse things a little more, I've just gone through my first set of bridgestones and thought they where a pretty good tyre.  The wear rate vs grip level was really good, I've got 16x7 wheels so there is a little more rubber there than the group s guys but they lasted me targa, the six hour and 5 club sprints and kept a consistent grip level al the way down.  I've only driven on yokie's to compare it to so i can't comment on dunlops
(nice tire choice criteria to gary  ;D)

Updated List

This is quite a shift away from the previous system, approved tyres (without sizes) and a list of acceptable wheel dimensions for specific cars.  There may be an impact on 105 cars, from memory they could run 15" wheels, seems that 14" only is allowed now???

Stay tuned for more info on windows in open cars (your Spider Nick!) and electronic ignition (yay!)

QuoteMembers may be aware that CAMS Tech Bulletin B11/076 of 29 July 2011 (Group N & S Approved Tyres) had several inadvertent omissions relating to the listing of approved tyres.

This bulletin has now been re-issued as CAMS Tech Bulletin B11/079 of 3 August 2011 (Group N & S Approved Tyres) with the correct listing of approved tyres. The bulletin can be downloaded from the CAMS website.
