Is it just me but did anyone notice the odd thing out about your car.  The door handles (or is the doors in total) being from a 2L Alfetta sedan.

Nice job Choderboy and I bet it would be heaps of fun.

My old '76 1.8 sedan underwent similar treatment (by the guy I sold it to) except in this instance it had all the running gear from a wrecked 90 installed (ie. 2.5 V6).  The car has now been fully restored and looks great.

Alfa should have made this version as it is such a Q car.  And I don't mean either the 75 or 90 as they are different.

I believe this car can be sold registered, but even if not, recent advice I heard from an engineer would suggest this car would have no real issue being engineered (in Victoria, at least).  It has the v6 brakes to match the engines power output, and it is running the standard fuel injection system.  I'm led to believe it would be a matter of fitting a catalytic converter and one other very minor thing which escapes me at the moment, and away you go.  Same applies to twinspark conversions in 105's, I'm told - providing the standard ECU is retained.

Unfortunately, aftermarket ECU immediately puts you in the realm of needing extremely expensive emissions tests, and it all becomes too hard.  Doable, with a decent size bank account, but ultimately not really worthwhile.

Branko. There should be no problem registering that car. In the extreme, it may need a mechanical engineering certificate but it shouldn't be an issue particularly if it has had suspension and brake upgrades as well along the lines of the 3 litre 75's which in principle run the same chassis.

Ditto if the car was in Tassie it wouldn't be a problem in registering it.  The one I mentioned is registered on Special Interest rego but could be fully registered.

Choderboy is thinking about buying this car to tow his race car.

QuoteDead right. Can you imagine how awesome it would look showing up to Sandown with the racecar on the trailer being towed by a little 1.8L Alfetta?! heads would be scratched for sure.

First I would look at the brakes on the trailer, then i would marvel at the Alfa.
