Guys

If you are on the GC.. try Phil at Maranello Autos for mechanical, restoration, servicing and a bit of tuning. He also sells private collectors cars on consignment as a favour to his diverse client base.

Always approachable, he comes from a great mechanical pedigree, with his shop located at the back of Burleigh Heads

Just throwing another vote behind Automotion at Enoggera. I take the Maserati, 166 and 33 to Cam and Dan and can recommend them for anyone.

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum, but on my 3rd Alfa now. I'm also on the Gold Coast and want to know why people seem to shy away from Revolution...to me they seem expensive but from Maronello's website I'd have thought they would be more so... I've been living in South Africa and could get my 156 services well by and great Alfa shop for $120 so to hear Revolution does a service for $360 was a shock, but they quoted me $1100 for timing belt. Are they ok?
Cheers

Ah, I see your problem.

Direct answer to your question : I don't know.
What I do know is that he doesn't keep standard business hours being semi retired. Try him between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM he is usually there.

But definitely still running the business even if it is a little layback.  ;D

It's unfortunate - If I can't raise him today, I won't be able to have parts for the weekend, so I'll probably just wind up putting through an order with one of the UK suppliers and have the parts monday/tuesday anyway... And ordering from interstate in the past has shown me it's somtimes faster to order from the UK.

I've been trying him roughly every 20 minutes since 10am...

Ok to answer my own question I visited Both Revolution autos at Southport and Maranello autos at Burliegh heads... here is my results

Revolution: in my opinion...they are full of themselves... I'm an engineer and he wouldn't listen to what I was saying...I have an issue with my selespeed selector but he tried to tell me it was the pump or the Actuator... so no

Maranello, I put the care in to get lower control arms and a window rewinder... I found the parts...and he's still got the car, hasn't started the work... if you drive an Alfa you are second priority to Farrari owners...he's had the parts for 2 days and hasn't started the work.

So please... is there a good Alfa workshop in Brisbane? I'll drive there before using these GC guys.

I've been very happy with Richard at Avanti spares (northgate) - not 100% sure how much he does on newer Alfa stuff. Haven't been to automotion yet, but have only heard great things (enoggera) and my understanding from what I've heard/read is that automotion is THE place to go.

Gazman,

The club sponsors are our recommended Alfa mechanics. Have a look on the AROCA Qld website, or if you've joined the club check our your club magazine. Neither of the workshops you mention have anything to do with the Alfa club.

I personally use Automotion at Enoggera for my road-going Alfa and my two racing Alfas. Cameron Wright at Automotion is very experienced with Selespeed boxes and should be able to diagnose your issue.

Ferris Lee at Quattromotive also has diagnostic equipment for Selespeeds and is a very experienced Alfa mechanic.

Contact details for both workshops are on the AROCA Qld website.

There are several other club sponsor workshops to choose from but I can offer a personal recommendation for these two guys.

Cheers,

Brent Hampstead (AROCA Qld President)

Can personally vouch for Ferris at Quattromotive

He is very thorough and I have been very happy with the work he has done for me.

He is a bit of a Selespeed wiz too.
