Hi there,

Please find below a media release outlining the return of the race cars to the revamped Lakeside. This should be a great weekend for both competitors and spectators and we expect a solid field of Alfas on the track. This is, of course, an Alfacomp 2009 event.

Cheers,

Brent

TOPGEAR RACING SERIES - ROUND 2
QUEENSLAND RACEWAYS, LAKESIDE PARK
MARCH 21 & 22, 2009

RETURN OF RACING TO THE REVITALISED LAKESIDE PARK

Racing cars will make their first appearance on the revamped Lakeside Park circuit when round two of the TopGear Racing Series fires into action on the weekend of March 21 and 22.
With several million dollars having been poured into the rejuvenation of the legendary Lakeside track and its surrounds, racing drivers across the state have been champing at the bit to test their skills on one of the most exhilarating race circuits in Australia. Now these motorsport enthusiasts will have their chance on a track that has been resurfaced and widened with the entries and exits of several corners slightly altered for improved safety.
Designed as the perfect entry to motor racing for weekend warriors, the TopGear Racing Series provides an excellent spectacle for auto fans with its variety of cars, non-stop action and FREE entry.
The Lakeside Park round features sedan, sports car and open wheeler categories, with a variety of makes and models in each class. Sedans include everything from Datsun 1600s to former V8 Supercars, while the sports car category will feature Porsches, Alfa Romeos and Mazda MX5s among others.
"The renaissance of Lakeside is almost complete," explained Queensland Raceways CEO John Tetley. "It's been a long process transforming this iconic motor racing circuit into a multifunctional public facility. The TopGear racers having their first hit out on the track is going to be great to watch and I recommend it not only for race fans but also for residents of the area to come and see their racetrack in action."
