A little bit of history

I had the engine lid of my 1750 cleaned up and better painted this week.  Under the paint they found this old (probably) paper sticker left there by the original seller in January 1969.  Alec Mildren of Pymble Sydney.  Sensibly my paint guy left it there.
Thanks Merv

Geez Merv how lucky are you?

They must have gone upmarket for the GTV's, my Oct 68' built S1 1750 Berlina and first registered Jan 24 69' has it stencilled!

No poshy paper sticker!

Great bit of history though, mine is untouched and its lasted well under the bonnet all these years.

Cheers,

Paul.

Yours is even better Paul.  Now that I look at mine it maybe stencilled on. I will do a little gentle paint rubbing at the edge with Orange Cleaner to see what else is there.  How good is that?  Thanks for this.

He (Alec) was a bit of a trailblazer for Alfa down in Oz.

He had a lot to do with the racing program and established strong ties with
AR in Italy, which some say eventually lead to AR setting up shop here.

He put big Kev Bartlett in the GTV's and GTA as well as the 33 V8 powered open wheeler.

Worth seeking out some more info on him. I think there is a good video on you tube of the Sandown
6 hour race that the Giulia won, good viewing.

Cheers.

I found this made by Mildren in 1965, but I am sure it has been posted before.  Great video.

Yeah that's the one.... I think there is some other footage floating around of the GTV's...

Probably at Bathurst....

It is a great video and the GTA is amazing but eclipsed by the Giulia in the end.  Also some icons of Australian racing, especially Frank Gardner.
