Yea it went well around Winton,  Got 4 Sessions in but it was a very strange day weather wise, Super Hot and Humid and Rained every couple of hours, so kept alternating between Wet and Dry track every session, which made suspension tuning difficult,  had a few issues, main one was some clearance between the sump and the oil cooler, i hadn't noticed a larger cooling Fin on the 3.2 sump, that's fixed now

the small amount of toe in is more about stability and helping the car to track properly, and the car was actually tracked pretty well.  It's got epic turn in and loves a partial brake or lift-off Over steer, as you say a combination of short wheel base and mid engine.  The upside of the short wheel base, is though it does love an OS, it is very easy to catch and bring back in line.

The dampers are 3 way adjustable, so i'll see if i can dial out a bit of the Lift off oversteer,

But seriously, awesome build, and brilliant and inspiring videos.  And very amusing.  Car looks amazing, can't wait to see it.

Interestingly, I watched a vid the other night, a sort of "men and their garages" sort of thing.  This chap had a Stratos rep with a 24V Busso (the LB STR) and a Ferrari F50, Carrera GT, Muira, Ferrari 250GTE, 812, and some others, and they all get driven hard.  When asked which one car he'd keep if he had to, within a heartbeat he said "oh, the Stratos, no question".

Just amazing Colin. Another great example of what an Aussie bloke can achieve in his shed

Tarmac rallying only?
Can the rear ride height be reduced a tad without impacting on roll centre too much - or would that impact on aero balance too much?

Yea as you lower the rear the Rear Roll Centre location becomes more and more of a problem, The McPherson Strut rear is definitely not the best part of this car,  it's got a super low CG anyway.

They did track a few of them back in the day, but I think you loose the advantages the small wheelbase gives you on a track, it really was designed from the ground up as a rally car

Love it.  Great highlights package Colin, it's been fun following the build.  Well done.

Congratulations on an amazing, inspiring project!
Like the others, I look forward to seeing in the 'flesh'.
Your expertise gives me an extreme case of car engineering capability envy!

Great vid Colin.
Great to see the car out there.
Looks great.
Pity there was no sound.
All your hard work and engineering was worth it.
Well done

New Video!

Hi Colin,

Great work on the uprights.  Nice to see they appear relatively hollow.  What are they off?  Or your creation?  Light?

The roll axis is certainly steep!  Not helped by the relatively short wheelbase - and highish rear COG?  No wonder it's a bit of a handful.

Looking forward to outcome of next test session.

Regards,
Colin.
