3.0 v6 Ignition advance module wiring loom
« on: April 25, 2019, 11:01:41 AM »
Hi All

Does anyone know where the purple and white connects to
I'm fitting the correct loom and hardware to the 3.0 in my GTV6 and this is the only wire I can't find a place for.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

I have some notes at work somewhere but I think the purple and white is for fuel pump power when cranking only, then the AFM takes over powering it once the engine is running.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong! I will check my notes tomorrow.

Mick.

The later L-jet 3.0 have this module, earlier 2.5 and 3.0 have a smaller module both have the purple and white wire. Actually, both modules have the same loom only the connectors are different. Thanks for the reply Mick.

I think I have found a home for the purple/white wire it could be a coolant temp sensor wire.
I would be grateful to any 75 owner who could confirm this by pulling back the dust cover of the connector on the coolant sensor at the thermostat and checking the colour of the wires

Cheers Glen

And thanks to shiny-car for the photo

I had a look at my 75 3.0.  That sensor on my car features Black (N) and a Brown (M) insulated wires.  No Purple / White (ZB) wire in or about the thermostat housing.

On the workshop manual electrical schematic PA371400000000 "Door-lock Device", a "ZB wire loops from the door lock unit (N11 / pin 7) to the front left door lock motor (P11 / pin 2).  Could it be possible your purple/white (ZB) wire is not original?  Has an aftermarket immobiliser been added and somehow used the door lock function to drive some half arsed ignition killer?

Hi col
Thanks for having a look, I found a schematic for a 75 that has shows a purple/white ZB going to the temp sensor from the ignition advance module.
I also have two ignition looms one from my Australian 2.5 75 that was rear-ended on Sydney harbour bridge and written off and another that came with an American 3.0 engine and drivetrain purchased from Tony Simmons of alloy wheel fame. He had imported the engine and drivetrain for one of his racing car projects.Sorry rambling!!.
I have two looms BOTH have the purple/ white BZ wire so it is original.
Brown/Black at the temp sensor is the same on GTV6 so I'm back to where does the BZ go.
This weekend I fitted the loom and hardware to the GTV6 with no success.... no spark no start! I used the 3.0 ECU {the #1 2 3 and 18} needed to be changed at the ECU connector for the new loom. The original GTV6 wiring and the new loom do not communicate with each other at the ECU. Im stumped.
