You've never seen the oil filter housing or where it's placed on a 1750TBi engine, have you?  ;)

A sharp implement would definitely make things worse.   :)

I've replaced the oil filter on the wife's Giulietta QV three times now.  Unless the filter location is different on the early iron block 1750TBi compared to our alloy block 1750TBi

Colin,

the iron block 1750Tbi use a cartridge filter.

the later Alloy block (4c) use a spin on filter

Thanks Domenic.
Reminds me its nearly due for another oil change.  I'll have to drop by and grab a filter and one or two other bits.

Just an update , today I completed the oil change on the Giulietta. The oil filter is in a difficult location but I found the removal of the front driver's side wheel and splash guard was the easiest way to reach it. Before unscrewing I marked the housing as a reference point when refitting.  I used one of those flexible silicon baking trays to shape and catch the oil spewing out from the filter. It did the trick.  I used my trusty low profile ramps on all four wheels (two stepped wooden sleepers stacked on top of each other). This allows good access under the car and keeps it level.  All in all it was about 1.5 hours going very slowly. Also changed the air filter while the bottom tray was off. Next is the oil reset. Waiting on the obd scanner.
Thanks for all the tips guys!
