EDIT: Feel free to read on, but the car is now SOLD....to my own son :)

Hi Guys,

Not even prepped it for sale yet, but giving the WA enthusiasts a heads up.

I'll be sadly selling my black Alfa Romeo 916 GTV 2002 ph2 2.0 TS.
After much consideration, I can't justify it AND the Porsche.

So the GTV has to go, then the beetle will go also, and then once my boy has past his test in it, the 147 will go up for sale as well.

Paint is original. Clear coat faded on bonnet and some aging in other areas as well.

Engine is strong and doesn't leak loose oil over time unlike my 147 with the same engine.

Comes with plates [UAR916]

Only "quirks" to speak of are:
1) Passenger window isn't functional. Mechanism is fine, but motor is burnt out. Find a replacement motor, or have this one rewound.
2) Airbag occupancy light is on. Squib under seats have been checked, so it's the squib behind the wheel. I never bothered getting it fixed.
3) Intermittent hi temp reading of around 110deg I'd guess (just past the '0' of 90) which is then rectified by unplugging and re-plugging the temp sensor. Has only occurred twice as detailed on this forum. Never went higher.
4) Intermittent resistance on clutch pedal. Again, hardly ever occurs so I've just lived with it, with a view to fix when the clutch needs doing.
5) Aircon struggles in hot summer days so needs regas (began to under perform at the end of last summer. Was fine before that).

Stuff I've fixed:
1) Koni STR-T rear shocks fitted
2) Original OEM wheels installed (came with horrid 5 spoke 17's), with new Bridgestone RE003's (now 1.5 years old).
3) Timing belt done ~1.5 years ago
4) Rear left wheel bearing replaced.
5) ALL brake pads and rotors replaced.
6) Custom exhaust for more "broom" as shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ML-79HXuRw .
Can supply with a rear muffler also if you want to make it more subtle.
7) Crankshaft phase sensor...is it? The easy to-do one... replaced only a month ago.
8 ) New battery installed as of 25/07/2018

All servicing done by Chilaberti under my ownership.

Car has a complete set of books and keys (yes ALL keys including master key)
Does not have original code card.

Interior is CLOTH (which having owned both, I prefer day to day in Perth summer).

Will post up-to-date pics when she's had a wash and vacuum.

$3K. May be listing for more once I'm ready to advertise on Carsales.

Installed the new battery last night and all good. Indicator on old battery showed it was cactus.

In a twist last night, my other son (twins) who recently passed his test, completely un-prompted, said he'd like to buy the GTV off me lol. He had no idea I listed it here yesterday.

Would be great to see it stay in the family, but I'm going to be a good father and discuss his other options between now and the end of the week (boring cars like Corollas and stuff), and if he still wants it by the end of the week....well then that's the fastest sale ever lol.

Well all I can say is (keeping in mind I've been away on holiday for over 3 weeks), I drove the GTV in to work today, and OMG I hope it stays.

Crazy little car.

....I think I need to drive the Porsche this weekend.

At least you won't have to wait til the weather clears. Mine won't come out from under the blankets til the sun is shining.

With the Porsche, I dont have to...but I still do ;)

I have driven it in the wet but preference is, it only comes out when the sun shines. :D

The $3K GTV? Not so much :D

My boy is still thinking about the GTV but life's been busy so not had much time to think and talk about it and sit down and shot him other options in his budget.

I'll still wash it and throw up some recent photos this coming weekend.

In the mean time I'm letting him drive it as much as possible so he gets used to it and can then compare against anything else he considers.

And on that note, in another twist of fate...... today I traded the 147 in for a low K 2007 Honda Civic.

What? It's a manual at least.

Hopefully will collect later this week.

It was a completely emotionless trade and I'll miss the 147 dearly. But where I'm at now, a generic commuter box with no timing belt is what appeals to me.

And I must say, over other options, the dashboard on a civic is what sold the car to me.

Silly little things.

Any guesses on what a 2005 pre facelift 147 with almost spotless interior was worth at trade in?  ::) At a main dealership BTW. Not a small Honest John yard.....

Given you were only trading up to a 2007 Honda, I'm guessing circa $1000.

We traded our immaculate V6 04 Ford Escape (with about 100,000km) on brand new Subaru Forester in 2012. We got less than half what the dealer sold it for two weeks later.

Sheesh, that must have hurt.

After the Escape experience, I vowed I would never bother with a trade in again. Always get more selling privately, provided you are prepared for it to drag on a bit.
