Hi everybody
Does anyone know where to get the special tool to remove the ring locking nut on the front hubs so you can change bearings?
Thanks
Marcus

Hey MarkusG,
What did you end up doing to get front hubs apart? I've just received my new bearing sets and can't think of anyway except for handing over to alfa specialist. But i'd rather have the tool and do it myself.

Unfortunately I just used a chisel and tried knocking it around with that. In the end I ended up just destroying the ring to get them out. I will just have to get a good second hand set to put in new bearings.  I think they are the same size as Alfetta ones so maybe try them. Will probably try and make a tool if the Alfetta ones fit as it will be easier to make as it's more like a reverse casalated nut. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.

Thanks Marcus. I've been looking for one to come up for sale online, but no luck. And totally alfa dont make them anymore. It's the last thing I haven't overhauled and one of my bearings is noisy now. Got my new bearings just need to find a tool or get one made. The alfetta nut sounds like a good improvement.

Does anyone have a photo of the tool we're after or the locking ring we're trying to remove?

Trust me, in the RAAF the first thing you were taught was that with enough Rat Cunning & Lateral Thinking there is always more than one solution. . . . . and if that doesn't work there is always PE4!

Are we talking SUD or 33 base cars? I have the tool somewhere. I'll have a look.

Hey Sportiva

Is your sportiva #22 a sportiva 1 or 2? Love them both. I have an 83 miglioratta.

Here is a pic of the original nut. Not a lot of working room and is a bit burried. Really needs the proper socket. How do you assure the castlelated nut won't loosen?

Can't get a thin walled 12 point socket onto it? What size is the pictured nut?

Just handed my two spare hubs and bearing sets to Bruno at Maranello pur sang in brunswick. That should do it.

I bought this socket but it's too small for the Sud front hub. Oh well will keep for Alfettas. Will keep looking for one for the sud sprint.

Spindle nut socket for Chev and Ford SUV's will work. you need a 2 and 5/8"  6 point spindle nut socket.
I inserted a tube section from an Alfetta clutch housing and centered it with nuts from my collection.
The tube section centers the socket into the rear hubs on Alfetta's you may not need this on Alfasud's or 33's. I like a challenge in my little workshop, if your bearing retainers are castellated this tool worked for me to remove the retainers on my gtv6 and an alfa 75.
