Hi guys, my 1750 restoration is a 1968 MK1 but I have a heap of additional parts from a later MK2 model. Were there any differences under the hood? Want to make sure I keep it as original as I can. I note that there are two different air filter setups, is this true?

ItalCarGuy

the S2 is apparently 3 HP higher from memory. I think the S2 is dual circuit brakes? S1 does have the crossover air filter setup like the earlier Sprint GT and Veloce. Don't know much other than that as its not my model of expertise! ;)

I have a 1750  1969 series 1  which has the non - cross over air filter and single brake booster.

I suspect like they Supers there are many 'grey' areas with model crossovers... or I'm just plain wrong! haha
waiting for the 1750 experts!

I stand corrected, but from memory of my 1970 1750 GTV series 2 and images available on the net, it appears the 1750 GTV series 1 had the crossover air filter and single brake booster, whilst the later series 2 had the cylindrical air box and twin brake boosters. Refer to the following images.

My 105 is also a Feb 1969 build 1750 GTV with non cross over air cleaner and single brake booster. Have heard these cars referred to as a S1.5 1750 GTV as they have some S2 1750 bits such as the air cleaner.

The front upper RH skirts are also early 105 whereas the S2 1750 had a later model skirt. If you have ever removed an air cleaner from an S1 & S2 1750, you will understand why the factory changed the upper skirt!

Your car should be the same but with the 'elephant trunk' air filter.

Cheers

Series 1 engine has its engine number on the RHS of the block same as a 1600 GTV (and earlier). Cams are same as 1600 GTV as are the port dimensions. The series 2 got the 10548 cams. The front of the head has a different marking also to distinguish the different heads.

That's unreal guys, I must say I'm a little disappointed that my model has the elephant trunk crossover filter though. They are pretty ugly. Would thi be the one item I upgrade?

I quite like my engine bay air crossover. It grows on you.

lhodgo

Maybe your right boys. I'll need a new trunk but I'll see what I've got!

My S1 1750 doesn't have the crossover but has the single brake booster - I think it's a late S1 car.
