Just when Bazz thought he could sneak away for Chrissie...  :o

This on the '01TS manual car; it has two "ricambi" keys (factory, not clones) and both can randomly/unpredictably generate the "immobiliser failure" display message, especially if you insert and turn the key rapidly to start the car.  This latter aspect implies it's a dialogue issue rather than matching damage to both key chips.

What I'm wondering is, whether the problem is a physical one with the transponder aerial, or a wiring/connectivity issue.

It will be either a fault with the circular Aerial Ring around the ignition assembly or with the Aerial Wire going from the Ring to the Immob box behind the Steering Column.

Ta, have free time tomorrow to investigate those bits further.

Sorry, its a 147, the aerial wire goes to the Body Computer.

I would have had a good look  ;D, the only 147s I've fully opened up are April '02 and September '05, so was open minded about there being possibly another element in the mix.
