Injector warning light just came on - though car seems to be running perfectly fine, I can't see anything loose, no fuel smell etc. But having had one v6 go up in smoke I am obviously a bit wary.

Car was serviced a couple of months ago, nothing was noted at the time.

Any tips on likely cause/diagnosis?

You mean the warning light with a line drawing of a motor?

poohbah

No, the warning light that looks like a fuel injector (on 156 its at about 2 o'clock on the speedo).

You know its an injector warning because you checked it with MES or because An injector symbol came up on the speedo?

if its an injector symbol on the speedo, that's the Engine Warning Light for your model and could be anything from a glitch with the MAF, problem with the Lambda sensors to just a momentary hiccup with any connection in the Engine wiring loom . . . . . . but with YOUR history . . . . . . .    :o

righto - decided to take a pic of it. Actually it is located at 2 o'clock on the tachometer, not speedo (couldn't remember which way round they were).

Of course, when I started her this time, it  didn't stay on after usual system check. Regardless, I've circled it. If you look real hard you can make out the outline. My owners manual definitely says its the injector warning light (99 handbook is different to the 2001 handbook - seems the 01 doesn't have injector light in that place).

And here is what the handbook says.

If it comes back on, I'll drop into the workshop during the week. However, I'll take you word bazz that it also serves as the ecu light, as there doesn't seem to be any other light that serves that purpose.

As it says - "Injector SYSTEM" - Thus, everything to do with anything that affects how much fuel is injected into the cylinder - Air, speed, timing, temp, Lambda feed ect ect, thus now called "Engine Management" light.  :)

I believe some models even have a sensor in your bank account, it detects when they think it overly flush and determines the best repairs needed to re-balance.

that sensor has always worked perfectly.

Well the good news is that there were no warning lights today after an hour in Monday morning peak hour traffic..

Like the Royals. We are all tarred by the same brush (as alfisti).

But I did just come to a worrying realisation. I also own a current model Subaru (though not a rexy).
