No, it's persistence. I believe it's a power that can be used for good.  :)

Society now demeans such; we dismiss the informed and determined, mock our artistic footsoldiers, disdain the courteous or considerate.

Haakon, you will be amused to know one of the trusty Frogmobiles today busted its window reg clip. I've had a few of these go on French cars, not one on an Alfa.

Hoping FCA will throw in a bike rack for the Giulietta roof, then your Mrs can fetch you whenever you get a flat...

Yep, and scientific and educated types are also derided. Its a very depressing side effect of the whole neocon fuckstickery that seems to reward ignorance and selfishness.

Ah yes, the good old french window regulators... I am a super expert at changing Megane regulators  ::)

Ever since I converted the roadie to tubeless tyres, I've not had a flat in 5000kms and two sets of tyres  ;)

Straight from the ACCC, I admit to not having seen these earlier:

https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/new-car-industry-put-on-notice
https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/dealers-squeezed-by-car-manufacturers-at-consumersí-expense

Nothing new really, other than official descriptions of what was evidently going on. The right of third party access to technical information that enables safe, warranty compliant repair and maintenance has long been an EU policy but even manufacturers bound by these rules within Europe have sought to tilt the system in their favour here.

Yeah, my timing is good. A year ago FCA would have told me to get bent and then charged me storage fees I suspect.

A bit of ACCC scrutiny is welcomed!!

The Settlement Agreement simply states the old and new car's VIN numbers and says the provision of the replacement vehicle completes any claims we have and our business is concluded. Fair enough.

New car is being treated as a new delivery too - which means I pick up the free 3 year servicing I didn't get with the old one so that's a nice bonus. They're even putting two cans of Selenia and an oil filter in the boot to compensate me for the oil change I gave the old car right before it went back to the dealer for the last time.

All in all a very good outcome (*pending actual delivery of the thing...)  - due to collect it early next week or later this week depending on when they get around to the pre delivery checks and put plates on it.

New one is about 4300 cars earlier off the line according to the VIN, so probably about a month older. Which I am guessing makes it about a mid 2016 build. Has Bridgestone T001 on it instead of the Pirelli P7 the first one did - guess thats just a matter of who was selling tyres the cheapest that month :)

Hopefully some other people were working on the assembly lines during that month!!

I suspect your test drive will be a pretty comprehensive and robust one before you formally accept delivery!
Now:    1999 156 V6
             1981 GTV
Before: 2001 156 V6 (sadly cremated)

Not sure that's how it works.
They tend to make batches of cars (country).
I understand the VIN gets assigned when the car is committed to build, not when actually built.

Trying to figure out what they (Alfa) did in the 60-70's is even more hilarious. There are several years worth of discussion in the forums over many countries arguing who built what, when and with which screwdriver

Congrats on the result, that would have tried my patience far too much and with a recent heart condition I'd probably have just given up - I don't expect their (any brand) corporate people consider the health implications of fucking people around though

EPer will give you the (factory)build date

Went to retrieve the Osram Night breaker headlight globes I'd left in it and had hoped to see the new one (but it was in the workshop and they wouldn't open it up for me...).

Glad it wasn't my imagination about that mystery cracking/creaking noise in the front end - they're going to drastic measure to find it!!!!!

Dealer reckons it might even get sent back to Italy for assessment...
