Hi All

Panos from Sydney here.

I don;t own an Alfa presently, even though the 105 series is my boyhood dream car. I have a number of Australian built classic cars at the moment and would like to add a 105 GTV to my collection.

So as with my other cars and motorcycles, i have joined this forum so that I can draw on the brains trust to make an informed decision on buying, and draw on the experience here to maintain my first Alfa.

I hope to be able to contribute what ever I can, and to meet some of you on any orgainsed runs.

Many thanks for having me.

Cheers

Hi Panos
Welcome aboard the Alfa Forum and yes this forum is a great source of information and getting assistance/advice from other forum members in the upkeep/maintenance of your vehicle The Alfa Romeo marque is “charismatic and 100% infectious” and in my case this stems back to my first Alfa being a 1750 GTV back in the mid 70’s and have owned several others since then. My current vehicles are a 1983 Alfetta GTV4, which I have been doing some restoration/refresh work to the exterior and interior and my recently acquired daily driver 2004 156 JTS.  As you are new to the marque and are contemplating purchase of a 105 series AR  I have attached a Youtube link on the Alfa Romeo history that you might enjoy
https://youtu.be/ByOcWkjpxNI.
Being a member of the local AROCA club is great, as there a regular outings and get togethers organised thru the club. Information is via e-mail for members or via the Facebook page and or AROCA NSW website, which at the moment is being upgraded. Other local Alfa Romeo groups include Veloce Racing Association and can also be found on Facebook. Hope to catch up on one of our gatherings, just look for the grey Alfetta GTV.

I am pretty sure you will find a restored AR 105 series to your liking, it is just a matter of time. Keep an eye on the forum or local car sales networks or just create a post under Wanting to Buy category on this forum and you never know one might pop up.

Hi Panos
It appears the  Youtube video provided previously on the history of AR marque is no longer available. I have found another which is in both English and Italian. https://youtu.be/oxgadzyouBo

Hi bonno

Thank you very much mate. I really apreciate the welcome, the encouragement, and the information.

My father used to say...if you want to learn something, stand in the same room as the people who already know. .....it's already starting to pay dividends.

cheers and thank you.

Thanks Panos
I will e-mail you  a pdf file of the latest issue of Alfisti Lettore 717 (file size to large to post). You will find a series 105 for sale on page 16 which is a project car. A lot of information is contained on there of upcoming events and also keep an eye on the AROCA NSW Facebook  page. If you get a chance attend the monthly meetings,  with details of where and when posted on AROCA NSW Facebook page. The calendar tab on the webpage is normally where this information is contained, but as the website is being upgraded this feature is not functioning at the moment.

Hi Panos
Have located an O/S website that lists classic Alfa Romeos for sale ;
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/cars/alfa-romeo?make=107&search_type=advanced&page=1
This 1973 2003 GTV is located in the UK and is a RHD model,
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/alfa-romeo/gtv/1973/470224
Unfortunately there are no listings available for a series 105 Alfa Romeo in Australia at the moment, but they do pop up from time to time. Another avenue would be to contact Australian reps AROC club sponsors, and advise them that you are on the hunt for a 105 series GTV and if they could put you in contact with a potential seller.
Cheers

Thanks for that bonno

Yes, I also thought I might pay the AROCA sponsors a visit each and let them know I'm a serious buyer and if they know anyone with a decent car for sale.

Cheers and thanks again mate, I really appreciate the thought and effort.
