Hello,
FIrst post!  ;D

Just bought a used giulietta 1.4L T MA 2012 with about 96,000 km from a dealer. Excited for delivery, but a bit worried about the cam belt needing to be replaced (being over 4 years). Especially after reading about all the catastrophic consequences of this snapping.

The dealer quoted about $1.5k and an independent alfa specialist quoted about $900 for the cam belt + waterpump.
But then I get a call from Westpoint Fiat Indooroopilly quoting $370!

Am I right to assume there's some sort of mistake re what they are quoting? Has anyone used them for this sort of work?

Hi Ueda
The quoted price of $370 I would suggest is  for an after market cambelt kit including water pump only (refer to e-bay),  plus you need to add  labour cost. Before you commit just confirm with the repairer what does the $370 entail. Ensure kit includes idler, belt and water pump and associated gaskets, ie; not just cam belt only.
cheers

The $370 will be for the parts only, it won't include the work. Expect around 5/6 hours labour cost at $100 an hour.

Thanks Baz,
Sent you back a PM.
Thanks for the responses everyone else.
Yeah, I got the sense the fiat dealer didn't really work on Alfa's often so I'll give them a miss.
