Years ago when I was a lad and my father stood on the mountain and said"One day lad all this will be yours "
I looked down in the valley and I spotted a "polizia" car that seemed parked in the middle of a paddock next to a tree
I said to my father and Uncle as I was only 16 at the time why is the police car there?
My uncle replied it crashed there about 10 years ago and hasn't moved
I returned to Italy when I was 21 and the car to my surprise  was still there !
So I went down and had a look around and proceeded to remove the carburetors and the
the camshafts from this Giulia of about 1973 vintage as you do( evidently only in Australia)
When I got to the airport with my 25 kg of hand luggage the airport security asked what was l this all about on the xray it looked like a dismantled double barre l machine gun ( imagine today i would be locked up or a hefty GST tax bill)
I explained that in Australia they have just invented the car and parts for Alfas were non existent .
The officer said he understands and proceeded to tell me about his Alfa with great passion ,I feigned complete absorption into the story to be awoken some 5 minutes later my other irrate passengers behind me wanting to get on board he told them to shut up and wait so he could finish his story.
So then I got on board my Alitalia 746&1/2 got back here just, and I kept the Carbys and gave the cams to my friend who had an alfetta at the time .

I recently caught up with him and asked do you still have those cams ?
"Cams " he replied have I got cams and proceeded to show quite proudly his selection of 10548's ,C&B's of various timings and other types ( no RJ's)
and in particular the 2 that I gave him.
I said I wanted to look at them because due to the power of the internet there is alot more knowledge out there.
To my surprise they had the cast 10548 numbers ( i thought it was a 1600 ti car) and some other stampings one with a 1 an the other with a 5 further along the cam
But what was the real surprise was that the number 4 on the casting was reversed ( as per photo)
and along with the extra stamp and the fact it came out of a police car
makes me question the cam ,is it a special cam for cops denoted by the 4 rev
its hard process to reverse the 4 not something you do by accident ,its not a wayward stamping either
So the question is
Has anyone seen heard or know of what it means, I would think its a mistake normally but with the providence it has
and the extra stamping is it something special?
