Announcing that AROCA QLD will once again be holding its Concours d'Elegance at historic Ormiston House, Ormiston. Open to all Italian Marques (at the discretion of the organisers).

There are three Concours categories: Pre 1960, 1960 to 1979, and 1980 to 1999.

Don't have a Concours car? No problem! Bring it along and participate in one of the two 'Show and Shine' categories: 'Pride and Joy' (for near stock cars), and 'Modified and Competition' (for 'improved' cars or track cars).

There will also be a "Peoples Choice" award, voted by the attending public.

Or just come along and have a gander at all the lovely Italian machinery. $5 entry at the gate, with proceeds going to Ormiston House. No entry fee to show your car. Because of space, we are limited to about 70 cars, so enter early! Go to arocaqld.com to register. And check out our Facebook page (search for AROCAQLDConcours).

Yep, May 21st. The website (arocaqld.com) has all the details, and how to enter.

Please enter sooner rather than later, because we have already received entries that comprise about 30% of our capacity. At this rate, if you leave it to the last minute, you are going to miss out. No entries will be taken on the day, so you must enter via the website.

Many of the entries received so far are quite exciting cars, so it looks like it is going to be another great day!

With about three weeks to go, already more than 50 vehicles have registered to attend our Concours d'Elegance on Sunday 21 May 2017. We are targeting a maximum of about 65 cars (although we should be able to squeeze in a few more) so don't leave it too late to register your car, whether it is for judging or just display. Online registration only takes a few minutes and places you under no obligation to attend on the actual day, but allows us to ensure there is a spot available for your car.

A showcase of three marques!
With a dozen Fiats, five Lancias and more than 30 Alfas registered so far - ranging from a 1926 Fiat 509 to current models - the day is shaping up to be a delight for lovers of classic Italian cars.

There is also an unconfirmed rumour that the stunning new Alfa Giulia may be on display!

Eligibility and Classes
Any vehicle manufactured by Alfa Romeo, Fiat or Lancia is eligible and encouraged to enter. Whether your classic model has just been freshly restored to "as-new" condition or you have a well-maintained daily driver, there is a class suitable to enter.

There are three Concours Classes, based on vehicle year of manufacture (pre 1960, 1960-1979 or 1980-1999) which will be assessed against detailed evaluation criteria.

For more recent vehicles (manufactured after 2000) which may not yet have been subject to a restoration, the Pride and Joy Class applies less detailed "Show 'n Shine" assessment criteria.

And if your tastes are more track-orientated, don't simply strut your stuff in pit lane; bring along your race car to enter in the Modified and Competition Class.

Of course, if you just want to bring along your car to be part of the fun and excitement, you can opt to enter as Display Only (you can change your mind on the day and enter one of the judged classes).

Concours in the Media
In March, we arranged a promotional photoshoot with our official event photographer, Chaitali Bansal.

Santo Massimino (Fiat), Sally Redman (Alfa Romeo) and Brad Muller (Lancia) brought along their cars early one Saturday morning and the resulting photos and article were published in the Redland City Bulletin.

Chaitali will also be taking lots of pictures on the day, so make sure you have a big smile on your face when she takes a photo in front of your car!

A big thanks to our sponsors!
We have received very generous support from our sponsors which has made this event possible:

    Shannons Insurance
    Keema Cars
    GT Motors
    DMM Mobile Mechanic
    Bowden's Own
    Automotion
    Janeys Redcliffe
    Ormiston House

Not just a car display
While the cars on display are the main drawcard, once you have checked them out there will be still lots to see and do - whether you are an entrant or a spectator.

Ormiston House was built in the 1860s and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The house and its expansive grounds have been carefully restored over the past 50 years, so a guided tour is a must.

Throughout the day, a talented cello duo will be playing in the shade of the veranda – what a perfect musical backdrop to take morning or afternoon tea in the cafe.

A quiet, contemplative visit to the chapel of the adjoining Carmelite Monastery will allow you to view the beautiful stained glass windows which were created by a member of our Club.

There will be some great raffle prizes up for grabs too – buy a ticket to try your luck and even if you don't take off a trophy on the day you might still go home with something special!

Catering
The cafe at Ormiston house, staffed by volunteers, will be serving up Devonshire Teas during the day – the scones really are excellent and highly recommended!

The local Rotary Club will also be there with their BBQ fired up – you will be able to buy a tender steak sandwich hot off the grill as well as cold soft drinks and water.

Of course, you are more than welcome to bring along your own picnic goodies to enjoy in the Autumn sunshine while looking out over Moreton Bay.

Registration
Pre-event registration for vehicles is strongly encouraged. Ormiston House has expansive grounds but the area available for vehicle display is limited. Visit the AROCA website to find out further details of the event and to register online. You can also contact Keith (0403 878 749) or John (0416 171 773) for more information or email: concours@arocaqld.com.

No. That's the Concours d'Lemon...

Worth noting that entries are closed - we're full! But that shouldn't stop you from coming along and seeing all the lovely Italian machinery on display.

Is there an award for an Alfa that as it pulls into your driveway and as it bumps over the gutter . . . .resembles a poor shot up smoking Messerschmitt that tangled with a entire squadron of Spitfires bumping in to land?   ;)

That would be the Concours d'Lemon, not the Concours d'Elegance...
