try and find the handbrake in a 1979 Thunderbird!

Is that the car where you car swing the steering wheel aside as you hop in?

kartone

Nope.
But there is no handbrake release, just put it into drive and it releases automatically; very common in the US during the '70 and '80.

love all this unnecessary electronics
so if you have flat battery you cant release the brake or push it somewhere
because it wont go into gear
towies must love these great ideas
how can the #*&^%#& of this world do hand brake slides
why do we need electronic hand brakes it already has an auto pawl brake
I too old for this
nothing beats my gtv hand brake that doesnt really work on hills and on flats when applied  jambs on
where is the italian mystery going

That's interesting!  I asked that question of an Audi salesperson some years ago.  They couldn't answer it.

Two things I love about the 159: manual with floorshift and a pull-up handbrake.  These days such features are consigned to the cheapest cars.

Very nice Giulia brought to last weeks AROCA Vic meeting by Brighton Alfa.  Dark metal grey colour.  Panel fit as good as anything from Germany!  Car looks a bit smaller in the darker shades.
Looking forward to having a closer look at some tonight thanks to Brighton Alfa.

I had a quick peak at a rosso Veloce at the local Alfa dealer this morning and it certainly looked fantastic.

Better still, seeing it in the flesh, you can see the direct family link to my '99 156 - including very familiar beautiful red leather upholstery set against dark grey interior surfaces.

I believe that's referred to as the "Bordello look".

Least explains why it appeals to you . . . .  ;)

:D :D :D    I was entrusted by a good friend to take delivery of his Giulia QV last Saturday as he was unable to be in Melbourne until the Sunday (and Monday was a public holiday in Melbourne).  We think it is the first one delivered to a customer in Australia?

I took it for a little run en-route to home through Richmond Saturday morning traffic and then a quick squirt along the Monash.  So a combo of bumper-bumper traffic and 100kph driving.  It is just SO compliant!  Very happy to dawdle along and also at speed.

The raspy exhaust in Race Mode sounds gorgeous and in Dynamic Mode its back to Dr Jekyll, all but ready for Mr Hyde to pop out. (I didn't drive it in Race Mode, just blipped the throttle whilst standing still!)

The interior trim fitted beautifully.  But lacked some of the tech gadgets that the Germans have.  At this level of dollars, its arguable that the car should come fully loaded, but we are talking Italian cars where the driving experience and performance is more prevalent than some comfort or convenience things?  My mind is not made up on that point yet.

Now back to looking at the Spec and pricing sheet .....

Indeed - in fact I actually described the interior of mine as "Milanese Bordello" to my friends when I purchased it :D

So, all you have to so now is retro fit the white interior lights with red "afterglow" lights, grab yourself a set of fishnets and stilettoes and find yourself a suitable street corner in the "red-light" district and you're set!    :o

The Giulia QV is certainly worth $160k.  Even more so given you will be able to "negotiate" a better price plus your trade in!

Alfa seem now to be openly acknowledging the engine is "Ferrari based".  I have no problem with Alfa not denying considerable input from Ferrari.  It may have Alfa badges on it, but the QV may be the most affordable new Ferrari "sedan" ever!

The underneath of the car features very serious aero including well executed turning vanes in the rear diffuser.

The Veloce is still however my choice.

You gotta think that Alfa would be happy to crow about the engine being Ferrari based, it could only dramatically increase sales, not hurt them.  ???

Apparently Lego and Ferrari are the two most respected "brands" on the planet at the moment.  Curious and ironic combination!!
