Yep the 2.0ltr with performance pack is the one to get
2 of these instead of the one v6
and its only 1.8 secs slower to 100 ( 5.7 vs3.9)
and does 240kmh

I have to say the Veloce is actually pretty good value when you consider that $70K is pretty close to the list price of my first 156, a 2001 series 1 6sp manual V6 2.5.

Ray Gulson had their official Giulia launch on 30 Jan, I walked in the next day to have a look a the car but no cigar, it was only there for 24 hrs, I had a long chat to the sales manager, apparently they're still working on what cars will be allocated to dealers and driveway price for the QV is around $160K, apparently they invited M3 owners from the BMW club to the launch but none turned up😂😂 in the UK the QV price is $97k aud.

That car throttle review is brilliant.

As I said before, I reckon the 2L Giulia Veloce is actually pretty good value against its predecessors:
Veloce:
Price $71,895
Engine 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol
Outputs 206kW/400Nm
Transmission Eight-speed automatic
Thirst 6.1L/100km

To compare, I went and checked the list price of my current Series1 156 V6 Q-auto which was $60,950. It's a petty good comparison, given it was the 2nd ranked car in the 156 lineup below the kickass high performance GTA ($89,950) which was available here in 2002.

Of course, my V6 only puts out 140kW, has a 4sp sport-shift auto, and does 0-60 in 8.5s, as well as gulping down about 10L/100km! (My original 6sp manual 156 was $1k cheaper when new, and did the sprint in 7.3s, but as you can't get a manual Veloce anyway, no point comparing it with my old manual.)

So here we are 17 years later, and the infinitely improved equivalent model in the Alfa lineup will only cost an extra $10k in nominal terms. But in real terms (adjusted for inflation) that makes the Veloce over $20k cheaper than my 156 in 2017 dollars ($93,260).

Interestingly,the $143k list price of the QV is about $15k more than the inflation adjusted "today's money" price of that 2002 156 GTA ($128K)

i was going to name my children alfa and romeo
BUT Again how do they justify a ridiculous 160k thats about $60k above the U.S and $70k above the UK
perhaps a second hand ferrari,aston martin,porsche(god forbid) or a new maserati ghibli or a tesla
or even a new m3 or m4 (resale after 5 years?) would be a serious consideration
does Alfa not realise its position in the market (unknown)
its like selling a chinese Chery for $80K ( ok 2 cherries for $80K)
you can see the people lining up now
that being said I believe a Kia Stinger gt is coming out and a lofty $85,000 price tag
funny the day the australian car manufacturing shuts down all the prices go up

I could never justify paying +$100k for any new car, no matter how good it might be.

Especially when there are alternatives - after all you can still buy a 156 GTA for about $15k...

I did the sums elsewhere. In that price there is a delivery fee of $10000 for Alfa to bring it to Aus. Then there is the luxury car tax that is another $20,000 on top. That is why the QV costs so much than the UK. Maybe it could be $10,000 less, but o. The end blame the government and our exchange rate

What we are all suffering from is the global conspiracy by companies !
Yep making you pay not what its worth but they think they can get away with
thats why an apple phone thats $1100 in aus is $200 in India
its priced against the average income of that country
not what its worth!!
THis is what we need to stop just because we live in the lucky country and have decent
governments (your choice between Capt Beige or Shortman)
If i go thru the uk to rent a car for my european getaway I can get a new fiat 500 rentacar from rome for $22aus a day
the same car through an Aus site is $40aus a day  this goes for all things
SO thats why the alfa in italy is $80,000 aus driveaway

you cant or wont afford it?
rent it in italy itll pay for you holidays in savings

After five years a good one would indeed sell for around $20K as per the precedent of the 159ti I'd reckon.

The 166 did of course set the standard of course -- worth only 14% of its UK Purchase price after three years.
