Hey guys,

Is it possible to for the De Dion triangle to go out of line?
My rear wheels seem to be not evenly spaced in the guards.
My rear right wheel sits about just over a 1cm forward that my rear left wheel and over decent bumps, it scrapes the back of the side skirt!
Pretty much has ruined quite expensive tyres😠

Hey bud, there really isn't what you'd call toe alignment.  Unless something is bent or loose you shouldn't have a toe alignment issue.

You would need to start measuring the position of the wheels relative to each other to fully understand what is happening.
Start by measuring the distance from the centre of the front wheels to the centre of the rear wheels on both sides of the car.

Has the car been in an accident in its life?

You need to get the car wheel aligned in relation to the front to make sure it's all ok if you have no idea.
My 75 had a bent dion, figured it out by the gap at the tyre and guard. Oh and the shoulder wear on that one wheel.

If you have bent or incorrect watt's arm lengths the dion could be shifted to the side. Bent body work at the watt's link mount too. Prior body repair gone bad?

Cheers for the feedback guys!

I've measured both sides, the rear right is 2cm away from the rear of the side skirt as opposed to my rear left which is about 3.9cm away!

Car was in an accident a few years ago, hit the kerb on the rear left side, required a new De Dion.
There was a bend on the body work where the left watts linkage connects too, so I'm going to check to see if the repair has failed.

Spewing, must've only been recently, I bought some Bridgestone Potenzas and now the rear right will need to be replaced as some of the tyre has been shredded!

Here's what the body work looks like on the rear right side where watts linkage connects to:

If the car has been in an accident then chances are the body isn't a reliable datum point.
So again, measure the distance from the centre of the front wheel to the centre of the rear wheel on both sides of the car.

That damage to the body looks nasty.  Reckon you're going to have to get the body put on a jig to get that sorted, which shouldn't be as hard as it sounds but not sure who has Alfetta body jigs these days.  In the old days in Melbourne we would have gone to Cambro or Rugello's.

Hey guys,

No modifications have been done since I had the accident repaired.
Old tyres wore very evenly just like it normally should.
I probably wouldn't call it wearing, it's more shredding the tyre when it does scrape, I'll take a picture of it soon to show you what it looks like.
Probably about a month after I fitted the Potenzas on, it started to scrape when I go over a decent bumps.
No movement on the wheel bearings, everything seems very tight.
No noise from the tyres, they're actually quite quiet!
No rear steering, feels very good on the road!

I still need to measure as per Sportiva's/Duk's instructions, so I'll see what I come up with there and report back:-)
